My dad used to play Piano Man all the time on the guitar (ironicly, haha). I also distinctly remember him playing Santana - Abraxas a LOT. Love that album...pure genius. I remember hearing lots of other Santana, Joe Cocker, Hendrix (amazing that so much sound came out of just 3 people), etc....
Momma was (and still is) all about doo-wop. All the different groups sorta run together though.

my dad was a huge music buff (doo wop from when he was a kid and later '70s rock and early '80s pop) so grand funk, gordon lightfoot, queen and yes provided perpetual background music to my childhood. my pops pretty much stopped listening to new music in 1984.
my aunt and uncle were hardcore jazz and soul peeps so I got my parliament, marvin gaye, miles davis and ohio players education from them. they've got a ridiculous record collection (around 2000 deep) between them.
one of my earliest music memories was hearing bandolero's 'paris latino' blasting out of a disco that was housed on the ground floor of a hotel my family was staying in during the summer of '83 in Chersonissos, Crete.

I have to say it's Blue Monday, which led my dad to buy me the original Blue Monday record from Factory Records, first pressing when I was like 4 or 5.
First ones I bought was Happy Mondays - Hallelujah, The Stranglers - 10, The Smiths - The Queen is Dead and The Stone Roses when I was around 9 or 10 years old. Saved for weeks to get them.
