Sounds for Car

I want a nice audio system for my car, unfortunately I know close to nothing about it. 10" subs are preferred for EDM because the bass is frequent, so a smaller sub would be able to recoil faster, right?

I'm looking for something that's clean sounding but still with a punch. Willing to spend some decent money ($600-800) which is hopefully enough for quality brands?

So could I please get some suggestions on brands/speakers/subs/amps/tweeters/deck?

I have a 05' Volkswagen GTI if that helps any, I'm sure a smaller enclosure would mean I don't need the same system as a big SUV.

Two 10's will do you just fine. I had a 12" in my Prelude, it was awesome but a bit massive at times.

First off, are you on the stock sound system otherwise? If so, replace the deck first. Then get a quality amp from someone like Directed Audio. Get A JL Audio W6 or W7 sub and you will be good. Also make sure to get a power cap. Replace the speakers with components from pheonix gold or diamond audio or the likes. Also make sure to get a good speaker amp for those components too, otherwise it will blow your headunit pretty quick. :)

Do something clean and simple like this. Spend the money on quality amp and speaker. A JL Audio W7 10" is all you really need. Its not a sealed trunk so the sound isnt trapped. If you do a similar install like the pic I posted you can still use the most of the room back there.

Any sub would recoil faster with a decent amp.

If you're not throwing away your car then save up and custom your sound system.

For a Golf, I suggest a 12in sub, 2 mid bass and 2 tweeters up in front plus an amp. The system depends on WATT kind of features you want.

I had a Clarion on my Civic.

Some good systems would be Alpine, Kenwood, Sony, Bose bla bla bla

My brother had two 16inch subs in the frame of his backseats, had to be cut in order to place them. The backseat was crazy loud and people would notice the ground vibes from the other cars. LOL

You just failed by mentioning Sony and Bose with the words "good systems" with car audio. Sony is total , and anyone who knows car audio will atest to this. Bose is ok for STOCK systems, but you can get a ton better with aftermarket. My sisters setup, which isn't much, just 2 jl 2 or 3ways (not component), a pioneer headunit about 4 or 5 years old, and some inexpensive pioneers in the back sounds better than both sony and bose.

I could go on and on about car stereo, but I'd rather do something else right now. I'll leave you with these wise words only instead;

Gonna play mostly 4-to-the-floor EDM = 2x10" woofers
Gonna play mostly Hip Hop/Breaks etc = 12" woofers

What is your setup right now if you have one?

Wow that is pretty clean...

Yeah I was looking into the W7 in the first place, but some say it's overrated for the price. Opinions?
