One of the undeground’s most strident supporters for well over 15 years, CHRIS FORTIER has established himself as one of the world’s leading tastemaking DJs, artists and label heads. He has been at the forefront of those pushing dance music forward since he first got involved with this culture, and continues to break boundaries and cross-genres like few other artists. Fortier will be making his Basic NYC debut on Saturday August 23rd, returning to the Sullivan Room to launch his new “As the Moment Remixed” project, which features his original tracks from his 2007 artist album
Over four EPs released this fall, several of Fortiers tracks from “As the Moment Exists”, his debut album that earned great acclaim for its depth and diversity, will be remixed by a stunning array of producers. The names are familiar to some, unknown to others, but all are like-minded in the approach they share with Fortier: a willingness to try new things, to take risks on the dancefloor, a drive to avoid convention. Joel Mull, Pheek, Joey Beltram, Someone Else, Patrick Zigon, Ink & Needle, Haberhsam…all are artists culled from the cutting edge of today’s diverse electronic music underground. Support for the project has already come from DJs including Leee Burridge, John Digweed, M.A.N.D.Y and many more.
Fortier has been a leading figure throughout his career, helping to welcome the late-90’s progressive house explosion in America through residencies in Orlando and New York. He was one of the founders of the Balance Record Pool, one of the most outlets for new, independent dance labels in North America and beyond. And through his own label Fade Records, he earned a reputation as both a genre-crossing A&R rep and a top-level producer and remixer.
Based out of New York, but with a continuous DJ itinerary taking him throughout the globe, this is a rare hometown gig for Chris. This will be his first trip behind the decks for Basic NYC, and promises to be a night of fresh, dancefloor-focused music from one of today’s most important figures.
Joining Chris behind the decks will be Basic NYC residents Sleepy & Boo, along with Deepspell, one of the mainstays of the People NYC parties, and Basic NYC regular Ed Zang. |

haha, idk, I can't promise anything. I just learned some sick judo throws last night at jiu jitsu. Probably best I keep those in check on hard wood dance floors. :nervous: |
