so my friend just calls me and tells me that she has been made manager of a bar where I am doing my thesis in ithaca, ny.

the owner of the bar is moving to LA and was going to sell the bar, but she convinced him to hand it over to us.

this friend used to throw parties with me all the time and now our group of friends/collective has control over a bar from thursday through saturday..

meaning i will be playing all night like twice a week and handling booking.

granted, it's in ithaca, ny, which is a college town for two schools and a legendary hippie town, but i've never run a bar before but I can't wait. It is a wine and sake bar and we will be playing only house and techno as I book it :)

awesome

going to play the first three opening nights this thursday, fri, and sat

haha like i said, I personally will be dealing mostly with booking, deejaying, and sound.

I'll let my friends take on that part haha.

it's good experience for me anyways. i think i'd like to get into designing/owning/operating such things after i get registered as an architect.

Haha! It's good business man, has a lot of potential depending on the location, type of music and crowd. Would be a lot of responsibilities too.

I had a residency at a bar in Toronto and those night were the best nights of my life. Drinks on the house and mixing up tunes from 9 till 3am. Night crawing in the city, drinking in random places and hoppin into afterhours. Ahh!

It's always the experience that counts. Good luck! :)

techno and house gets the drunks going good. yup.
