FORZA JUVE!
What a great match, especially with Ranieri returning to Stamford Bridge. I'm hoping we rape the Blues. At least get a solid away result. |

me that was awesome! I was hoping Liverpool would get the 1-1 draw at Real, that was the most ideal/realistic for me lol, and watching that first half I could swear Madrid was gonna take it 1-0.
But then I remembered were one of the best clubs in the world and hold 5 European titles, so my fear was subsided....B-B-B-B-BENNY AND THE JETS! |

Pretty anti-football display from Liverpool. There was always 10 men next to the box, and they depend on set pieces to win matches. It's a true testament why they will never win the EPL. You can expect more of this in the next match.
RM on the other hand lacked creativity. Guti as a sub over Schnieder and Van der Vaart? And why only one sub? Lass was brilliant, and Heinze needs to go. There was also a little bit of selfishness in their play, too many people were taking shots when there were plenty of options open. |

Wonder if all the English teams can make it to the next round.
Anyways, Barca ftw. |

I disagree. From the perspective that clubs like City and Chelsea that became rich overnight , maybe there is a credible reason to do so but it is highly unfair to clubs like Manchester United that built a rock solid financial foundation over the course of many years.
What is the point of running a club successfully if your not going to get a chance to reap the fruits of your labor?
And besides , monopoly is good for a sport in terms of generating an bandwagon following and thus revenue. Golf is what it is because of Tiger Woods , Tennis because of Federer/ Nadal. You take these guys out of the game , it will give everyone else a big chance of winning but attendances and television audiences would fall drastically as was proven during the time woods was out last year.
Why do you think american sports have not caught on as big in other countries? Its because there is never a consistent winner among them due to salary caps and draft picks.
Ethically, it is correct to give everyone involved a fair shot at success but from a purely business perspective , in sports you need to have a bandwagon that the uninformed can jump onto. It is especially essential for international audiences who have no clue about the roots of a club and usually pledge their support to the most successful club. All you need is perhaps 2 or 3 other teams/ players that will provide competition and you have yourself a goldmine which is what is happening in the EPL. |

You obviously have a more favourable perspective on this than myself as you support the most succesful team in the richest league in the world. Unfortunately I support Celtic and the Scottish league has been in rapid decline over the last decade as all the best sponsorship deals, tv money and players go south of the border.
We can no longer compete with even the relegation battlers in the premiership for signings and when you lose out on players to championship sides who can offer £30k a week you know something is seriously wrong. The playing field needs to be more level otherwise the premiership is going to continue to put the rest of us in the shadows and while that may not be seen as a bad thing for yourself supporting a premiership side, it doesn't provide an attractive spectacle when its the same four teams in the champions league semi final every year. |
