On that note adios atlanta...had a blast for a year here!

i used to live in atlanta, and recently moved to boston too :thepirate

there is a pretty good scene in the boston

big names will come to the estate, which is a decent place (some trance, but mainly the big house names). this is kind of the opera/1150 of boston. edm parties every friday

underbar is a slightly more intimate venue (kinda like the mark in atlanta), and brings some big house guys like lee burridge and steve lawler

rise is an afterhours place (well, aftrhours in boston is only 2am-7am, but it's better than nothing haha). steve porter and danny howells have residencies there. you also get a lot of the tribal house guys from nyc playing there, like victor calderone and peter bailey. open every friday saturday and sunday
www.riseclub.us/

then there are lots of smaller venues, like the phoenix landing in cambridge which has techno every wednesday night, and middlesex lounge and the enormous room which have events every now and then.

there's also an outdoor party called Dance on the Charles, which is a big setup right on the charles river. great house and techno, and a very cool vibe! there is one coming up in august, and another is september

overall it's a fun place to party!! and you can walk or take the subway anywhere you want, so no need to drink and drive either.

i am trying to go out to more events, so hit me up sometime and we'll check something out!

oh, and there is a cool record shop in allston called lab. great place to buy vinyls, and you can find out info about events there too

Danny Howells does not have a residency at Rise. We all wish that but that's just not true. I don't think Porter is even a resident anymore although he does play there once or twice a year. Rise is only open on Sundays now on special occassions. Imo it is the best place to play/go see a dj if you can deal with the fact that there is no alcohol there. Alot of big names have come through there the past 3 years or so including the already mentioned Danny Howells, Mark Farina, Josh Wink, Carl Craig, Derrick Carter, Steve Porter, Desyn Masiello, Dj Heather, Luke Fair (several Times), Max Graham, D:Fuse, Craig Richards, Dennis Rodgers, James Talk, Justin Martin, Gabriel and Dresden

The Goodlife Bar and also Revolution Rock Bar also have house/techno events from time to time. The are located on the edge of the financial district. I've seen Claude Von Stroke, Eddie Richards (A frequent Fabric dj), and Hipp-E among others come through those two places.

The Avalon Boston/Axis complex which at it's heyday was up there among the best clubs on the East coast is still sorely missed. I am not sure if the "House of Blues" which will reside where the former clubs stood will book edm acts or not yet. Time will tell....

I've been going out in Boston for over 8 years. It definitely has hit a lull somewhat but I think the rock bottom has passed and things have definitely picked up this summer. I am excited for things to come in the city.

ah my bad, deff misunderstood that

i've only been going out here a few months, still haven't really found THE spot or night to party yet. altho rise is definitely at the top of what i've seen.

are there any other lesser know afterhours spots? and any other decent record stores (other than the small selection at newbury comics)??
