Despite the alias I do want to apologize for my choice of word in "passion" You guys were right in that I am not in a position to determine whether or not they are passionate or not. Though I used the word it was not my intention to say they lacked passion. I can imagine the lengths they go to to plan these parties both musically and logistically. To me that fact that made a career out of doing what they love is wicked. I think most people posting on this board would give up there day job so they could do what these djs have done.
I never once said that they were bad DJ's becasue I think its quite obviously that they are doing something right when they can constantly fill clubs numerous nights each week. Despite sometimes feeling bored with there sets I still find my self at their parties because they always bring in other talent such as Dirty South on friday etc.
As far as drinking meeting women etc. What I said was taken completely out of context. I never said dont do that because it will show you dont have passion. First and foremost for 90% of the people in the city could give two s about the music, they just go where there is a good vibe and all of the dj's I mentioned are definitely capable of doing that. As far as Joe going out of his way to buy you shots thats pretty impressive if he did it to help set the mood.
Above everything else, the question that I was really seeking an answer for was, Would they not put together better sets if they played fewer times each week? I am not saying dont host the parties because any M&S, Roach, Junkie party etc is always pretty good. I ask this because often times they looked bored behind the decks. It dosnt seem as if they have the energy I know they could bring.(Hence why I said in the first post they were good and had talent) I would imagine if they didnt have to listen to Grindhouse 10 times a week they might be more interested.
Anyway time to go catch the bus. |

I kinda see the point he was trying to get at. In terms of putting together a diff. set. Or what not. Like I see DJs like Armin, Dubfire, Deadmau5 that would play the same tracks at every gig (not pre-planned or same order but it's a hot song or their own production) and think to myself wouldn't they get bored of hearing the same song so many times? Like how many times have you guys heard Dubfire - Roadkill or Samim - Heater last year and got annoyed hearing it?
BUT this doesn't necessarily mean that they have no passion for the job. It can just mean that they know it's a big track and it would get the crowd going or that the crowd expects the DJ to play it. |

I agree with you... If its a big track DJs are damned if they play it and damned if they don't. People love to complain - whether it is not hearing the track they expected to hear, or hearing that same track that is 'played too often'
I have caught some of our locals looking extremely bored at times, but all the names mentioned have always put on at least a decent set and I have never doubted their passion.
I do wish that we could have some different residents at Guvernment. I am not bashing Mark Oliver, but a lot of the other world class clubs have international DJs as semi-residents... it would be amazing if Guv could have the same. |

why dont they just ing buy a house and invite all their friends for a "house party" and then everyone else can enjoy some fresh air in the clubs |
I'll do you one better....Toronto should just ban DJs....then we won't have any of these issues....heck...just ban music....its just stupid noise pollution that is warping the fragile minds of stupid Torontonians |
