Ask it using words like melody/bass/notes/percussion etc. "Beat" is really such a general term and I'm not really sure what element of the music your talking about. |
will you people stop saying that? if your not following any rule at all youll end up making modern noise music... which i don't have any problem with, but people here are trying to make trance as far as i see it, and with that you have to use (u dont have to actually know everything you do...) bars, notes, phrases, etc...
there are some basic set of "rules" which all music have in common, i think its important to get to know them...
as for the OP - i tend to build my main theme/idea of the track before everything else, then ill develope it as far as i can, after that ill usually have a full beat and all ill have left to do is arrange the before and after of the main idea, i find it a lot easier then to just flow with the tune and not having a clue of what im trying to achieve...
so ill have a beat "ready" and ill add to it and remove from it as far as needed in different sections of the track. |
