Can't wait to listen to this! I'm hoping Renaissance will ship out copies early like they did Satoshi Tomiie's Masters Series 9.

Awesome, I'm really looking forward to this one.

Well, I listened to the first disc last night before going to bed. Really smooth and chilled-out. Now, the second disc is much more upbeats, it flows incredibly well from one track to another but after it reaches a certain pace it just stays there and never really climaxes.

All in all, this feels like a 2.5 hour warmup set. But an incredibly good one at that.

I know, you prefer comps that bang the ing roof off just like I do...but trust me, this still is very enjoyable. ;)

I agree with you for 99%. However, I think were making a small mistake everytime Howells 'does' something; we often reflect it to his 2007 EM, and often conclude his EM 2007 (though im not saying youre doing that right now ;)). If thats keep being our main reference point to focus on, he might never get even (let stand along) with his mixes/productions. We have to leave his 2007 EM 'behind'.
I also think his 2007 EM had a different sound.

I just finished listening cd1, and since i agree on your comments with respect to cd1, i think ill have the same feeling on cd2 as you.
Cd1 is very dreamy, epic, starts off slow, gets off at a certain point ... and finishes in style. Cd1 = 8.5/10

I always thought His EM 2007 sounded pretty chilled out, to me.

With respect to what i just wrote above; its not a matter of how DH's 2007 EM sounds to someone, its just that a lot of people keep on shouting things like 'this is nowhere near his 2007 EM', etc., since everybody was f***ng blown away by that set.

But that again; i might be wrong on my thoughts. Its just my 2 pennies :p

Oh I see, and I agree with that also.

Its perfectly ok to have our own personal favourites, but our own judgement shouldn't be impose on the DJs creative talent, or stop them from evolving their sound.

To be honest, I wasn't really comparing this to his 2007 EM specifically. But since this is Danny Howells, it's quite inevitable to go into this new comp by him and compare it or at least expect it to be on the same realm as his legendary sets.

Although this didn't turn out to be as hard hitting as I had expected to be, it is still an above average compilation. Very smooth and enjoyable and mixed impeccably. I guess since it's "Renaissance: The Mix Compilation" and it's mixed by Danny Howells I expected something of epic proportions, kinda like the original Renaissance comp by Sasha & Digweed. But like I said before, I still enjoy it immensely.

I had the same, although im quite sure there will never be a mix comp which can compare itself to S&D' Renaissance Mix Comp :)
