Hmmm...not sure if that's a joke so I'll just put this out there: Metric

And yes, we adopted the metric system in the '80s.

I still prefer Fahrenheit to Celsius. Other than that, go go metric!

Good band too; Metric that is.

That is because you are born and raised on it and use it all the time. If you were forced to change, you would. It isn't hard really.

And the reason we had to "invent" it, is because the US has to reinvent EVERYTHING, including the wheel, before it officially exists and is usable by us. ing stupid if you ask me.

Also, I am in favor of switching, but we have far too many dumb s that will oppose it. I can see an easy way to change it, but we know that this will cost too much for us since nobody wants tax increases.

The U.S. simply inherited the English measurement system from Great Britain...

Why we haven't changed over yet is anyone's guess. Probably has something to do with the stupid exceptionalist attitude so common in this country.

I go by my own system so I could really care less :o

No. And all that is because you're assuming, which is the mother of all ups :p

If I were sooo accustomed to the customary system why would I be willing to switch over to the metric system for everything but temperature?

I prefer the Fahrenheit system over Celsius simply because it provides a much more exact temperature measurement imo. The difference of a few degrees in Celsius is drastic whereas it is generally minor in Fahrenheit. I like the exactness of Fahrenheit is all.

would you rather have an 8 inch or 20 centimeter cock?

Using "centimeter" to describe anything makes it sound small somehow.

I think it's the prefix "centi-". Sounds very diminutive.
