TSN announces new channel

quote:

TSN announced a new channel today, TSN2, which will launch Aug. 29 with live coverage of the U.S. Open tennis tournament.

The digital channel will be a 24 hour, seven days a week service providing live major league content including NHL, NBA and some CFL games, as well as NCAA basketball games, tennis, curling, auto racing and martial arts.

As well, TSN2 will be the first digital channel in Canada to provide content in high definition TV.

e said TSN2 will air about two NBA and two NHL games a week. TSN acquired the NBA package that was discontinued by Sportsnet at the end of the 2007-08 season.

As well, TSN2 will air replays of big events carried on TSN, such as European soccer games and games at world hockey tournaments.

TSN2's start time is 7 p.m. ET on Friday, Aug.29.

I can't wait for this...it's like another Xmas for me! Another Sports channel with Live coverage! Woohoo...

I know Jamie will be happy about the live Tennis :D...this is for Jamie

TSN2 should be a boon to tennis fans, who are often given tape-delayed telecasts late at night. TSN, in fact, pushed up the start of the new channel, previously scheduled for a September launch, to coincide with the beginning of the U.S. Open.

They always show soccer...
Well, Champions League anyway...

and Sportsnet shows EPL, and TLN show's Serie A...

What else do you want? lol

There's also like 3-4 channels strictly for Soccer like GOL TV and I forget the other one, but you need a box for that one..Channel 400 something....

1) Live Sports – a total of 800+ hours of live sports coverage, with an average of one exclusive live event/game per day, available only on TSN2.

2) Encore Telecasts of Live TSN Programming – TSN2 programming features encore performances of key sports events, which aired live earlier in the day on TSN. For example, European-based sporting events which air live on TSN in the daytime, such as Champions League Soccer and select IIHF tournaments and games, will be repeated later in the day on TSN2.

3) Better Timeslots for Western Canada – TSN2 presents better timeslots for Western-based viewers with alternative showings. Events and programming which air in late-afternoon/early-evening in Eastern Canada on TSN will now be repeated in Western prime.
