it'd be funny if it wasn't representative of your initial thought process.

and if it's the first result in such a broad search, well..

It's funny how often you passively reinforce the fact that you are a high school drop out to the rest of us.

We don't really need the reminders anymore, but at least they're entertaining.

RJT, I don't sympathize with anti-american twats at all.

But the way the Canadian court system is set up prevents nonsense cases from even seeing the light of day.

For instance, there is a limit you can sue for here for certain forms of damages, and it isnt that much, so you'd be crazy to waste your time and you'd be hard pressed to find a lawyer who was a big enough moron to take a dumb case like suing a laundromat for 65 million over a pair of ruined jeans.

I like the fact Americans sue, it keeps the douche bag companies in check and prevents them from doing awful things to their customers, but it does get a bit silly doesn't it?

PS:

Ignore that boring **** BTG, his location says Milton Ontario which is quite possibly the most boring place ever, he no doubt votes Liberal and laughs about fat dumb americans while eating his McFish and reading his copy of the enquirer.

You are absolutely right to say that the extent to which Americans are legally allowed to seek monetary compensation for civil damages is excessive and absurd, but I do think that in the bulk of the Western world, petty lawsuits (and in general, petty use of civil damages law) is absolutely rampant. It's an unfortunate byproduct of capitalism and democracy (edit: both of them lead inevitably to increasingly bureaucratic governments - more BS, more loopholes, more people trying to needless take advantage of the law).

What bothers me is that solely because of the absurd initial suits that arise in the U.S., we get a disproportionate share of the blame for this culture existing - even when the bulk of these absurd suits rarely go to judgment, and if so, rarely result in the amount of the initial suit.

The whole debate seems to be people bitching about details that rarely last through trial - and to complain about something so superficial just seems as petty as what they're initially bitching about. :p

Actually, it doesn't prevent them from doing anything but charging more for products & services than they'd otherwise have to in order to insure themselves against $50,000,000 lawsuits for hurting someone's feelings at an office in bumble, oregon. 'Pain & suffering' is the most inane phrase in existence with regard to law and should be eliminated entirely, imo. happens. You slipped & fell? Fine. The company pays your hospital bill & lost pay. It's not the ing lottery.

Got me into college, which got me a pretty great job actually. Enjoy repairing Xbox's the rest of your life.

And the best part of the bald/high school drop out insult fest is that I couldn't control being bald - you on the other hand, are either just lazy, or a complete idiot.

You genuinely couldn't do what pretty much everyone else can.
