Just listened to your track.
I think that overall everything is very well put together. All the sounds are well matched, the bassline/kick sounds good, and everything is well composed in the song.
Having said that, I don't really like the sounds you have. They just sound cheesy to me. I hope you know what that means. They remind me of that Cascada/Basshunter type music that I don't really care for. I've also been trying to make some songs, so I know how hard it is to make good sounds. I've found that you really need a good synth to make a good song. What synth are you using?
Also, when you build up the tension in your song, I feel that the overall energy of the song doesn't really change that much. Like the intro sound good, then there's the buildup (I think around 1:30), but then when it goes it feels like there's the same amount of energy as there was before.
That's just what I think, hope that helped. |

dude thanks so much I have exactly the same opinion as you. I have tried to make it more modern sounding but no dirty synths seemed to fit. it just ended up being quite soft. Also I agree the build needs a lot of work. i just couldnt find something to really set the main body off. I tried an arp but it sounded a bit to fast and out of place. Its a work in progress i suppose Thanks for the ffedback

The percussion is pretty cool and fits well. Sound Synthesis comes with time. Just keep making songs and your synthesis will get better and your melodies. For me when i started producing i couldn't get anything done because i would just tweak synthesizers with the same melody and bassline. Now i have been producing for about a year and i have absolutely no knowledge of music theory and i cant make a whole songs worth of melodies to save my life.
All i am saying is worry about your melodies and the synthesis will come later.
P.s. I would love a midi file for this so i could do a remix. |

| Just reread my post and want to make it clear that I think you did a great job with the song. I've spent many hours trying to make songs, and yours are significantly better. Getting good sounds is the hardest part for me. Then again, I'm using really cheap software programs that probably cannot generate good sounds anyways. So, good job. I did like the song. |

reasons malstrom and sub | my advice matey for a good build up try and find allmost the opersit to what you have got all ready. look at it as trying to cover your tracks then when all the other stuff comes in its like a nice surprise. |

Hey Sonic,
I listened last night, and I must say I'm not that keen on the track. Let me try to give you some tips.
- Work on the bass, as I was listening on my laptopspeakers I couldn't really hear the placement in the mix, but don't use the standard kick-bass riff (1/8). What you can do is use a kick-subbass (removing the higher freq) and put another higher bass on that, working on top of the subbass. The standard bassline u used sounds a little outdated.
- Get rid of that vanguard arpegiator. It's much to obvious, people will lose respect because that it's to simple, filling and non-creative to put in the track. You can use an arpegiator but hide it a little in the track (maybe sidechain it).
- I think the track can use some more percussion, and can get rid of some of the percussion used. For instance that ClosedHat riff is IMO pretty annoying, try using a loop for the track that fits nicely, and than try to rebuild that loop or play a little with it (so it doesn't sound like a standard loop).
- I (so that's my opinion ;) ) don't really like the chords you've used for this track. It isn't catchy enough to be a tune of the week ;) (just messin with ya)
- As I know you're a beginner in trance music, I won't judge you on the mixing skills, but I think it could use some work. What you can do is turn down all the faders (except for the kick) and slowely fade them in to a level on which you feel it sits nice in the track. Mixing is a matter of opinion, but the more experienced can hear if it sounds 'muddy' or not as it supposed to sound.
I hope these tips will help you a little on the way.
Good luck! |
