China is absolutely kicking ass at the Olympics but the Americans have somehow managed to alter the ranking system to put themselves top of the table!

Now lets have a look how the medal table looks officially...

I reckon UK will soon take over America (and if Phelps wasn't swimmin we'd already be 2nd! :D)

Huh? Nothing you said made any sense. All of those websites have the same results.

And, Phelps won 8 Golds. Take that away from the 22 overall US Golds and that's 14 Golds for Americans not named Phelps. UK has 12 Golds.

But the table of most successful country or state goes by Golds won, then by Silvers, then Bronze.
The US websites have put US on top for most overall medals, when it does not work like that. Stupid.

I don't see a big deal about it unless they're falsifying the stats. It's still clear that China is running away with the golds, while the US is winning all medals equally.

they should change the title of those tables to 'events results' since technically the US will have more golds brought home when you consider that all members of team sports and relays get golds. and as long as i can remember, american newspapers have always done the tables by overall medals.
