Progressive synth & electro

Hi all, new to the producing section. Got a couple of questions:

What is the name of that progressive-like synth that many use, like the one in the track "Who Cares...really" by Adam K & Soha

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id6p9kubbtc

The one that comes in at about 00:55 and continues alone at about 1:05

Second of all what is the name of a good electro synth?

Thanks for the help and excuse my n00biness.

Regards
Theran
Hi there, welcome to TA!

About which synth he used, I can't play the clip because I'm at work, but I will listen when I get home.

About which synth is good for electro, it doesn't really matter what synth you use. You can create electro sounds with every synth, you just have to know how to program it.
Although, with electro, it might be usefull to go with the bit monotone synths like i.e. Arturia stuff, Gmedia Oddity or synths like that.

I used to make Electro 24/7 and have learned how to program most electro sounds. I have loads of reason instruments (that I have made before the copyright police get me) and i mean loads I dont mind sharing if you PM me. Also try searching for exceeder style synth thats a classic electro one.

Pm me mate I can help loads.

osc #1 - saw
osc #2 - saw, semitones +7

Adjust the filter envelopes to your liking, that's something you have to do yourself since it's different for every synth.

Add fx to it like delay, chorus, stereo enhancers, reverb, whatever. That part is up to you too.

Thanks for the offert mate, but the last post explained how to get a nice default sound ;).

I still hope someone knows the name of that progressive synth.

Thanks yet again

its not a spesific synth. most synths can make that sound. its plaing chords, and the osc is saw, maybe even supersaw thing. and its heavy sidechained

i'm almost sure that this is the nord lead/rack 3. at least the character sounds exactly like the NL.

Is that "nordlead3" synth available for purchase as software?
-FSP-
I've been hearing from people on the internets that Synth1 sounds like one of the nord models. Synth 1 is free too.

I can get a deadmau5 sound on there, but I have to layer it with stuff to get close.

The Nord Lead/Rack 3 is a hardware module, Clavia haven't released it as software. You could bide your time on ebay , waiting for one to come along at the right price. If you don't need the keyboard, the Rack version will be cheaper.

But as people have been saying, there are plenty of fantastic software synths out there as well. They're a fair bit cheaper than hardware. Grab demo versions. try them out and work out which ones are worth your hard earned money!
