Having some MIDI troubles in Logic 8

I just received my first hardware synth today (a nord rack 2x, in case you're wondering), and I'm having some trouble getting Logic to send MIDI signals to it. The MIDI output of my soundcard (M-Audio Audiophile) is working properly, as its test function successfully triggers the synth. The audio input is working fine as well, as I can hear sounds coming through Logic and see them on the mixer's level meters. I believe the problem is in the External I/O plugin. When I try to select Midi Destination, it gives me no options. I've looked through the general MIDI preferences and couldn't find anything obvious to solve it. Anyone have some ideas?

I'm using OSX 10.04.11 w/ Logic 8.0.0, and an M-Audio Audiophile.

You need to set up the MIDI instrument in the Environment Window.

Check out this video series if you are unfamiliar with the Logic Environment.

He talks about using the External MIDI track, but I prefer the External Instrument plugin personally. If you set up the synth in the Environment, you can use it either way.

Yeah and don't forget to turn off the Local Switch of your synth, if not what you play will be doubled...

I managed to get it working. Somehow when I looked in the media browser for MIDI channels it suddenly woke up and found them all. Weird. But hey, it's working, so who cares.
