The first disc to GU: Paris, as far as I'm concerned, fits this bill exceedingly well, and is largely constructed on lines similar to the first disc of GU: 24 (which you so highly praised).
In and of itself, the first disc is nothing short of very impressive, and I'm curious as to why you're apparently unwilling to cite this as an 'interesting downtempo or breaks disc.' |

Looks great again from Warren, some real spicy tracks on there.
Clovis: Not to attack your tastes or your EDM knowledge but I think most people have been in your position of looking at a Warren CD 3 months before it came out and said... meh... same artists, different tracks... but I bet it's the same liveset I d/led 2 weeks ago. Although the chance of that could be likely in your case, I would still listen to it just because Warren is pretty damn good at finding a vibe with the cards he was dealt. I looked at the Paris CD the same way with 16B etc on the t/l without very high hopes but found the 2nd CD to be one of the most upbeat prog house sets in recent memory.
That's my 2 cents, hope you take it but feel free to leave it. :tongue2 |

Paris is the only one I haven't listened to. (and Lima obviously)

Fair points, no offense taken at all.
Another part of my weariness with Warren is that the last 2 times I've seen him DJ, he's been absolutely TERRIBLE.
Horrible quick transitions, EQing and beatmatching, big room prog and a few classics thrown together aimlessly...just really bad. |

Honestly, if it's just not what you like - that's fine. Plenty of others have for a long, long time, and nothing has really changed other than your taste. |

Maybe you just didn't know any better? :p
Warren's live mixing has always been absolutely wretched - back to the first live sets I've ever heard from him from the late 90's early 00's.
I still think he manages to pick some great tunes (even to this day) - but unless it's a studio mix, I basically just expect the most off phrase, out of key, and generally some of the most terrible mixing I have ever heard.
I really don't know how he's managed to last as long as he has. |

He does have a knack for finding top notch tunes all the time even if his technique is . |
