been using blue for most everything but i find it lacks good atmospheric elements. anyone care to share which vst is best for atmospheric elements? thanks

Blue doesn't have a lot of atmospheric presets, but it's an incredibly deep and versatile synth that will do atmospheric sound better than most if you program your own. That said, you should take a look at Absynth if you haven't already - it does atmospheres better than just about anything.

absynth 4 might be the tool your looking for

also sculpture for logic can make some hefty sounding atmospheric textures if you tweak it right

Any synth can do atmospheric elements with proper programming and use of effects.
