You guys yourselves act one-sided. You insult FOX News and CNN but don't mention liberal bias media like MSNBC or the NY Times.

And Krypton,

I know not all progressives are freedom of speech hating hippies, but at least here in Miami, their rallies and protests are filled with so much hate. I've had my car egged for having a McCain bumper sticker. Damn!

If you read the first page of this thread, I make known my strong disapproval of corporate media, which includes MSNBC, left and right media. The only media I trust is independent media not funded by advertisers.

Sponsorship is different from selling an audience to advertisers. Corporate media's sole purpose is to sell an audience to corporate advertisers. The audience is the product. To hell with an objective news broadcast from the likes of Fox News, MSNBC, or CNN. PBS's news programs certainly aren't as flashy or "entertaining" as corporate media. But the substance of their programs far outstrips anything coming from corporate media.

I don't read NY Times because of the bias.

I didn't realize MSNBC was liberal slanted (don't watch it either) just kind of assumed it would be right wing ish with the corporate sponsors and all.

I place my trust with media that don't pretend to be entertainment. The Economist (slight left and right bias on certain topics) and Financial Times are the best I've found so far. Foreign Affairs is good because it is only slightly right and it makes no claims at being anything but the oppinion of the author. BBC's not bad but definately has a slant. The Globe and Mail is good but is a little limited in it's scope.

I won't read opinion papers in most of the papers though.

I don't like independent media because they lack accountability without a wide readership.

CNN propaganda? More like Krypton propaganda. CNN is much more credible and objective then Krypton ever will be.

Let's talk a little bit about Hezbollah without bringing up Israel.
"Extremism is an evil; there is no such thing as good or bad extremism. In the same way that there have been warnings against the spreading of the Kandahar model, there must also be severe warnings against the spreading of the southern suburbs model and its security zones in our countries.

The southern suburbs are an example of destruction to the Lebanese state, or to any state, and the region is evidence of the danger that the penetration of foreign money poses, especially “pure money” that create loyalties to something other than the homeland and create duties that differ to the duties of a citizen. Foreign funding is a sharp tool to divide the ranks of the nation and the citizens.

When a region within a state, like the southern suburbs, has its own communications network, an independent security regime linked to a foreign country and its own education system that differs to the rest of the country or that is contradictory to what the state legislates then this is destruction of the state as a whole and a more dangerous model than Kandahar.

When a region like Lebanon’s southern suburbs has its own understanding of religion and culture where it shuts down cinemas and opens the Imam Khomeini Cultural Centre (and let us bear in mind that we are talking about diverse Lebanon) then this is a great danger.

When freedoms are repressed and writers are intimidated and their homes are raided if they challenge the directives of Wilayet-e-Faqih, which is what happened after the 7 May coup and the invasion of Beirut, then the suburbs come to resemble Kandahar or even worse.

When groups are going around monitoring what is heretical and what is authentic, hang up signs in barbers that read ‘No to Shaving Beards’, shut down restaurants based on fatwas [religious rulings] issued from Tehran and hang up pictures of Khomeini and Khamenei and other Iranian symbols and exploit places of worship in order to strengthen the concept of Wilayet-e-Faqih, then the model of the southern suburbs becomes a dangerous one and a symbol of state destruction that poses no less of a risk than Kandahar.

Isn’t it time Hezbollah and the Iranian propaganda machine behind it and others stopped portraying Tripoli as Kandahar since what is happening in Tripoli is far worse and more dangerous for the Lebanese state and the Arab nation than what is taking place in Kandahar?"

Syria sucks. Iran blows.

if i see one more so-called "free thinking progressive" sitting comfortably in any of the dozens of Western liberal democracies appologize, equivocate, or so much as dismiss what Iran and Syria do to other countries in the name of a religion i'm going to puke.

Krypton propaganda? Yea, because I'm a corporate news network..

What do you have to say about American or Zionist extremism? And what do you say to the millions of Palestinians and Lebanese Shia who form the backbone of Hezbollah? What message of hope do you have for them? Do you know Hezbollah is their representative party in the Lebanese government? A party only gets that by winning elections.

What danger is Hezbollah to you who are safe in your home in the Nashville?

Is American the only country allowed to pressure its interests on other countries? This really boggles my mind...We can occupy Iraq and force feed democracy on them, but Iran, oh no, they must mind their own business because they are evil radicals..give me a break..
