There was actually a 1999 follow-up/rehash/reprise etc etc

everyone should remix a trance classic (by remix i mean figure out all the notes in the song and rewrite it) sometimes. a trance artist can learn an awful lot by rewriting something that filled dancefloors in the good old days.

i've remixed 1998, words for love, agnelli and nelson -- every day...

I think you are on the right way but there is a lot more you can do with this track. Overall it sounds kind of dry and lacking real movement. Let me give you some tips:

- Layer some basslines, don't use a simple 1/8 bass, It sound rather dull.
- On the mainlead, you could turn up the release on the envelope to create a longer lead sound, now it stop really abrupt. You can also put some reverb and delay, even a flanger on it, to make it more 'filled out' than it is.
- It also sound like u used a sample from 'prodigy's' slap my bitch up on the percussion (if not, it sounds like it ;) ), but it has been used almost the entire track. Try to get some variation in the percussion you are using.
- Spice up the overall percussion, maybe use some delay or reverb on it, for instance on the clap.
- on 5.16, you throw a loop in, and the loop is not lowpassed. You suddenly heard the kick get louder. You can set a lowpass filter around the 350Hz, than you get that problem fixed. Or throw it thru a sidechain.
- On the end there is a bass sound, from which I don't really know what it's doing there.

I really like the pad sounds you used and the overall progression is pretty good.

I hope I didn't sound to harsh. I'm just trying to help.
