MATT RISSI - Solar Cathedral Recordings/Zuvuya Recordings/Giant Squid - Techno/Electro
www.mattrissi.com, www.myspace.com/mattrissidjsonar
Cedar Rapids, IA
Matt Rissi, known for nearly a decade throughout the Midwestern rave circuit as DJ Sonar, was born in Tucson, AZ in 1980 and transplanted in the Midwest in 1996. With 11 years of mixing under his belt, Matt has proven to be a serious DJ, earning deck time all over the United States alongside stars like Chris Liebing, Derrick Carter, Richie Hawtin, Dieselboy, Frankie Bones, Tommie Sunshine, Terry Mullan, Donald Glaude, DJ Monk, DJ Dan, Mike Huckaby, Radio Slave, The Atomic Babies, Christopher Lawrence, Rabbit In The Moon, Grooverider and many, many more.
Matt represents a new era of DJing and performance utilizing the latest technology available while playing “feel good techno” that truly captures the attention of anyone willing to turn an ear. His emotional stage presence and explosive mixing capabilities allow him to demand the attention of any room, big or small, delivering solid DJ sets time and time again. This is, and will continue to be, the key to his success. Watching him perform is like watching Shakespeare. Unparalleled emotion spills out onto the dance floor with a contagious force infecting the dance floor - of which he is in total command. Matt really has to be seen to be completely understood. People that have taken part in witnessing his performances are floored by the fact that a DJ like this has spawned from a place like Iowa. A true professional with a bright future in the world of dance music.
On a local level, Matt puts on and performs at some of the biggest Techno Events that Iowa has to offer. He’s played a Seminole role in hosting some of the world’s most respected dance music producers and DJ’s with the sole intention of trying to let his hometown brothers and sisters feel what he feels while enjoying the sounds of the best. Performing for thousands of local supporters at annual events like 'Solar Sessions', 'A Pornstar's Ball', 'Inferno' and Scion's '515 Alive' festival has gained him a cult-like following that few in Iowa can compete against.
In 2006 Matt began working in the studio with partner Mustafa Avdic and has since hit the scene with techno tracks aimed for the dance floor. Their 'Yugoslavia EP' is out on Zuvuya Recordings and is currently receiving support from the world famous Dave Clarke after he debuted one of their tracks on his world renowned 'WhiteNoiseRadio' show. Dave Clarke also licensed the Woody McBride Remix of their hit 'Oktave Jumper' for his 'I Love Techno 2007' mix compilation that was released world wide on Belgium's Music Man record label in November of 2007.
Matt and Mustafa have also launched their own imprint, Solar Cathedral Recordings, featuring their own production work along with original music and remixes from globally respected artists like Amsterdam’s DJ Misjah, Yugoslavia’s Dejan Milicevic and Mladen Tomic, Chicago’s Avex Axiom, Germany’s Holger Flinsch, Guba, Martin Donath and Robin Jacobs, and Minneapolis’ Woody McBride, Dustin Zahn, Mike G, Christian James and Centrific. Solar Cathedral Recordings has gained support from DJ's like Valentino Kanzyani, Mark Broom, Marco Nastic, Plus 8's Paco Osuna and many more. With future releases currently in the works, expect to see EP’s coming out on a monthly basis.
All of Matt Rissi’s production works can be sampled / purchased at www.beatport.com.

SIR KUTZ! - Red Cube, Future Sound of Breaks, IBreaks Internet Radio - Breakbeat/Speed Garage
www.redcubepdx.com, www.futuresoundofbreaks.com, www.ibreaks.co.uk
Seattle, WA
Music is my passion" is the creed that Sir Kutz! lives by. In the early years of his life, he played saxophone, then guitar, and now currently invests his talent on the turntables and music production. Sir Kutz! has manipulated his skills and experience to bring him to where he is today. His reputation proceeds him as being at the top of the broken-beat game in the Northwest and quickly gaining major recognition nationwide for his bass heavy track selection and intelligent mixes. Sir Kutz! most recent breakbeat mix CD ("Killa Kutz") is one of the tightest, and cleanest mix tapes to hit the region in years. Download it at www.redcubepdx.com/audio/SirKutz-KillaKutz_192.mp3
Julian Stephens started in Portland Oregon. He is a punk rocker at heart, and was in several bands for most of his youth. Sir Kutz gave up the screamy vocals and guitar to begin his breakbeat career in 1999. "I guess it all started when i was employed as a stripclub dj. I was forced to watch naked women gyrate to thick, punchy, electronic music and i was hooked!" says Kutz. Since then, he has created his own musical niche comparable to the agressive sounds of his punk background. While living in Portland, he was supported by the internationally known production company "Redcube". The crew hosts some of the most outrageous productions, club events and parties in the Northwest. Red Cube books the biggest names in the game and shows no sign of slowing. In fact, the crew has branched out and is now putting together shows in Seattle and British Columbia. There are more major cities to come. Check www.redcubepdx.com for more information.
Sir Kutz is not a dj to stereotype to one genre of electronica. He is most known for his upfront, big bassline, tearout style, ragga influenced breaks. He rips tracks like paper, quick fluid transitions, bassline to bassline. It's a sight to see. Unlike most dj's, Julian can adapt to any event thrown at him. Whether he plays electro breaks, progressive, funky, or tearout expect to hear something different and unique everytime.
This breakbeat asassin has other genres in his arsenal of 5,000 + record collection that he wields. Julian has also been known to drop extremely rare speed garage in his sets. The response is priceless. If your not familiar with speed garage, its a genre that appeared first appeared in the United Kingdom in late 1997-1999 and sounds like house music with sloppy drums and bouncing warping basslines.
The scene quickly died out and the tracks were hard to find. Fortunately, there has been a rebirth. There are producers in US and UK have been making new garage tracks for the last two years.
With hope of a new speed garage scene, Sir Kutz started a side-project as co-founder of a North American speed garage collective along with upcoming speed garage producers Kor, Fx Logik, Cinto, Jayrod, and Underground Vinyl's Scot E. The United States of Bassline was founded in 2004 and incorporates dj's and producers from Las Vegas, Seattle, British Columbia, Los Angeles, Youngstown, and Victoria BC. The collective already has releases on several independent labels and has plans to start an imprint of their own; "United States Of Bassline".
It has been said that a "true dj" plays anything and everything. To further this concept Sir Kutz has been doing drum and bass events for the last year and has his first dnb mixtape forthcoming this summer ("Poppin' My Dnb Cherry"). "Playing Dnb has added another element of bass to to my career and keeps my sets fresh and creative" Kutz says. "Sometimes I will mix breakbeats, dnb, and speed garage all in one, how many dj's do that?"
His innovative style and choice track selection has skyrocketed his bookings and gained him several residencies in the Seattle Underground scene. Sir Kutz is a resident on the Vortex Radio Show, C89.5. The Vortex is one the the longest running EDM radio shows in US history. He is one the top residents in Seattle's version of BodyRock which puts together events in the cities most respected clubs, Element, Last supper Club, and Heaven's.
On top of his local achievments, Sir Kutz travels and has headlined numerous events nationally and has a massive following in Canada. Julian has played two shows at the "Fusion Groove Lounge" in Tainan, Taiwan. Sir Kutz! has his own webcast on London based Ibreaks Radio (www.ibreaks.co.uk) every Friday at 2pm PST. He was also invited to play the 2007 & 2008 editions of "Future Sound Of Breaks", the Contagious Musiq Afterparty, and the Ibreaks showcase at the Winter Music Conference in Miami FL, and was made a resident for the upcoming Future Sound Of Breaks events. Stay tuned for a nationwide tour.

An integral part of the Nashville dance music scene, Eric Burgos helped to establish Strictly Social as one of the premiere nights in the state, and one of the longest running dnb monthlies. From his start playing the darkest techstep he could find, it didn't take him long to find the deep groove that he still pushes to this day. Expect a good mix of only the freshest tunage and classics when his big ass approaches the controls, and be ready to get it CRUNK!
