If you go with Ableton learn the entire program. Don't just use it to beat match 2 songs together.

Umm, how is that a burn? He just implied that people should use Ableton to produce rather than mix.

And it wasn't a burn because there is nothing wrong with mixing in Ableton if that is what you have available to you. I'd rather us it to DJ with than any other piece of software out on the market. Of course I prefer CDJs with Traktor Scratch/SSL, a sampler, and a nice rotary mixer preferrably with filters, but hey not everyone can afford all that gear just to make a few mixes for fun. I think Cory was just saying make sure to take full advantage of the software (learn how to make loops and grooves, learn how to edit tracks, learn how to use the studio FX, etc...) instead of stopping at just using it to mix.

Wrong that was not what i implied there. I personally like ableton mixes when they are done RIGHT.

Deadmau5
PVD
Armin's year mixes on ASOT

Are a few of the people i know who use ableton, and i like it done the way they do it when they are DJing.

Then i know a few people who use it to just beat match either cause they dont know how to or they have plans on getting so ed up while djing there going to need some help beatmatching. So i have seeen both good and bad mixes with Ableton.

Maybe I should have put the *sarcasm* thing up.

I sat there and read it a couple of different ways.

Maybe I thought it was funny since I'm prbly the only one that knows that johnathon is still practicing on djing & making mixes on software (which of course I enjoy and there's nothing wrong with that.)

s not funny when u have to explain a joke. Hahaha.

does anyone else find that for production ableton doesnt provide the same kind of lushly clean sounds you get with cubase or logic?

hmmm... im a cubase user but have considered moving to ableton. i know schossow uses it exclusively, but yah, most other producers i know who have used it tell me there is a distinct difference in sound quality with vst's and even wav....

discuss amongst yourselves *waves hands Babs Streisand style*
