Anti-Virus

I'm looking for a god anti-virus. I'd like something with a small footprint, but that is still fairly effective. I don't need a popup congratulating itself everytime it updates a download or finds a suspicious file.

I've been checking out ESETs NOD32. Does anyone have any experience with this or other anti-viruses that has been positive?

Please leave all suggestions for Norton and Mcafee out :D

NOD32 is great, but if ur looking for a free program id recommend AVG.

Free isn't necessary. I've been prepared to pay about 80 bucks for 2 or 3 years of service so NOD32 seems right up my alley.

Ive heard good thing about AVG but never tried it myself. Maybe a free trial is the way to go...

Don't ever pay for an antivirus. AVG free is perfect.

for Spyware use ad-aware free:

They are both just as good as the paid versions. Don't waste $$

I use to have AVG and now have NOD32.

AVG is great but I think NOD is much less of a system hog.

NOD32 is mt first pick, followed by AVG 8. NOD uses even less resources than AVG and is a bit more protective I would say.

I prefer Avast! It's free for home users, and updates it's definitions daily (program updates happen about once a month). It does have pop-up notifications of updating, but I'm pretty sure you can disable that in setup. Either way it updates upon boot up of the computer and the information only stays up for you for about 20 seconds.
