| so i accidently used a higher AC power cable that I should have because i have 2 that look the exact same for my mixer....so my mixer now wont power on with the one that it should, however it will work with the high output one...is this ok to use or no? |

I would definitely not take my advice as sound, but was the original power adapter lower in amperage than the newer one?
I have been told that amperage lower than the minimum can cause some problems; however, higher ones should be fine.
Again my word is not gospel, and I could be dead wrong. Power scares the crap out of me when it comes to dealing with it. |

| yeah the original one was a lot lower than the one that is working now |

| amperage and voltage remain the same no matter what cord is used. the amp draw is regulated through the resistors and coupling transformers. higher output cords just allow a more efficient means of higher amperage traveling through it. as long as you have clean power coming out of your outlet you should be fine.....oh and always use a surge protector. make sure it is ul rated, a lot aren't. |

| This thread is confusing. You used what? A cable with a higher rated fuse in it? :conf: |

OK, please clarify what you're talking about.
Firstly what mixer is it?
When you say AC power cord, I assume you're talking about and AC/DC adapter right?
What are the voltage and ampage rating of each of these?
hooj1 is right, but lower end equipment doesn't always use the best components to regulate power and the worrying thing about your post is that you said it was originally working with the lower rated PSU, and now it only works with the higher rated PSU.
This could potentially mean you have damaged the mixer and have to give it more power, which in the long run might not be so good for it, but we need information to tell. |

Hmm some of the comments in this are somewhat confusing...
hooj1 is apparently right saying "amperage and voltage remain the same no matter what cord is used" and yet... "have to give it more power".
CSB what do you mean by cord?
But I'm most seriously not buying any pish about power quality from a commercial adapter, if that was gonna be a worry for him he'd be calling the supplier of his thousands of pounds/dollars worth of equipment lol. |

| Wait a sec blew up? In what sense? I'd guess it's just a power supply regulator cap. |
