That was probably the best post ive ever written robby. seriously you hit everything on the nail.. i will totally make sure i understood everything you just said, and on top of that thanks for the effort =)
and i dont mind if it sounds different so long as the riffs themselves havent been changed. i didnt put as much effort into the organization of the riffs as well as i should have. if you have to repeat on riff a lot then go right ahead. but if youre using the riffs i made im sure ill really enjoy it.
and no this isnt a prank lmao.
i love the attention this thread is getting i didnt think i would be so provocative hahaha
the reason im doing this is because ive heard other peoples first and seocnd songs and i mean no offence but they havent been any good at all.
i feel like for the time i put into these songs they sound pretty good and if i had more knowledge about the program it could sound awesome. im taking a music theory class this semester actually to see if itll help me at all. i made this song and i listen to it pretty often as it is just because i like it. i want to see what a pro could do with it because i will genuinely enjoy listening to it. |

Alright I'll tell you where I'm at.
And for the record this isn't a joke lol. I know people are prob hating on me but when I first started using FL and going to the FL forums and downloading FLPs I was never able to learn from them.
And most of even the decent songs were obviously from people who weren't really experienced with FL.
So had someone helped me out I prob could have saved maybe a good year or 2 of my life.
I can't explain why, because Sytrus actually makes some nice sounds, but around my second year I just stopped using it completely. For a vst like Vanguard which is completely horrible imo. I actually still find a purpose for it every once and a while.
I just hate Sytrus, so save yourself some time and get a decent vst or 2.
I cut out all of your melodies except for the piano, and the main guitar riff.
Everything else is just clutter.
I'm trying to keep Slayer in, but its pretty ing hard making it lock in the track.
I kept your percussions, dressed them up with simple sampler filter LFOs and what not to give them some character.
Now I hate to trash your first track.
But I've spent more time making something work that I would have scrapped a long time ago all together.
So I've wasted more time with this then it would have taken to make a really decent sounding track. And I'm prob not even half way through yet.
I'm going to pm you about something else, and when its done I'll post the finished FLP in here. |

wow dude thanks for the insider-info =P
and thanks for the effort =X
i really dont mind you scarpping it, i mean if just seeing my riffs gave you some kind of inspiration of your own to make a good song then by all means..keep it up |

hey thanks man =) i actually have to update it, i was messing around with the kicks and snare and hats and its sounding like it has a lot more body. i really enjoy listening to it myself leisurely even though it sounds un-clean, its my baby =P
*edit: i updated the link to bandango, its the same thing just sounds a little cleaner with more body |

Thats emotional attachment , the big bitch to producing
Youll learn to take critisism but in the end sometimes there right.
i leave tunes ive got going for a few weeks and go back and take another listen.
btw post up your tracks after you lot of finished so we can gander |

hahah yeah i totally get what you mean =X
ill end up doing that eventually, and im always welcoming criticism though =P
it helps me build off of what i have. i was thinking if i should break some of the beats in the the guitar riffs to maybe make them a bit more interesting.
and for the sake of the post ill link my song again
http://www.badongo.com/audio/11126008
and if you care to listen this is my very first song i made in a few days with just jumping into fruity loops =P the week before last week.
i was trying to immitate infected mushroom because im obsessed with them and a little house-style touch, but thats just too much to aspire to especially on a first song.. haha
im just really happy i was able to just install fruity loops and make DECENT sounds. im not going to say im good and not trying to be concieted. but like i said i heard other first songs and just being honest with myself i think these sound a liiiittle better
my first song:

I did listen when your originally posted , and i cant remember why i didnt reply,
But anyways , like your self i was a fl noob not long ago ,some say i still am :tongue2
but with the tune , the ideas are there but as you have stated , if you or someone with the techy knowledge will be able to turn this into a cracking tune.
Alot of duos are like this , one does the themes the other the sounds and sequencing. |

dude we should start a duo o_o
thanks for the good words hah
i figure if i learn a lot ab out the program i couldcreate some cool stuff =P |

If i could afford to come live in LA i would lol
But in my experience its not about FL you should learn (obviously the basics yes) but the way FL can support outside programs like VSTi's (most popular being things like virusTi , nexus and the old workhorse vanguard )and most recently for me , hardware.
Currently i use FL purely as a sequencer and automator for sounds
Ive nearly bowed to peer pressure and bought cubase but have stuck with FL just because i know it.
Most people here dont like him but deadmau5 is a FL user as was cosmic gate , hell even mike oldfield (yup tubular bells) uses FL in his home studio.
The bottom line is that its software package brands it a toy.
But the more you learn about its outside support , ie not using its inbuilt synths , it can be a good purchase.
Personally its downfall is only a 64 channel mixer. |

| professorTHC |
| oh yeah i totally get you. but i do have to say i love the way i was able to just pick it up instantly and make decent sounds. ill realize how toy-ish it is once i start using the mixer and once i learn how to make my own sounds rather than use presets. i think i have proven to myself i can use the piano roll well enough and its time to move on to the mixer haha so if you have a particularly good tut for the mixer it would be welcomed. the tut im looking at expects you to know a looot of terminology too. |
