but you did watch the speech through the filter of cable news coverage did you not? see your whole "blah blah blah/i almost threw up/sky is falling/ barrack hussein obama" talking points sound remarkably like someone who takes his views from overpaid media pundits and isn't quite sure why he believes what he's told to believe. if you were to articulate a thought-provoking argument, maybe your opinions would be more substantial. |
filter?? i watched the speech not commentary on the speech. but of course you get your news from the all mighty and reliable internet right? anyway, i apologized for the drunken rant

oh for sure, but freedom of thought and expression is historically more of a liberal view
I always thought republicans only liked country music:disbelief |

yes filter. see if you didn't watch it on cspan, then you watched it on cable news where a program director decided which parts were important for you to hear and which parts were cut out for commercial breaks. which parts you heard for yourself, and which parts were narrated to you. which parts you were able to reflect on for yourself, and which parts were reflected on for you. if you watched it on cspan, you were able to understand the continuity of the message. if you watched it on cable news, you were fed bits here and there and a picture was drawn for you at the end. cable news appeals to the lowest common denominator. it opinionates facts so that you confuse the two, it encourages nonthinking, it oversimplifies everything it attempts to explain. it makes you stupid basically.
i do get my news from the all mighty and reliable internet. i get it from credible sources that adhere to journalistic standards. my sources are published by editors who fact check, not streamed through a pundit's earpiece as it hits the blogosphere. i read information which enables my brain to think rather than have it told to me through editorial which allows my brain to sleep. it doesn't surprise me that you don't see the difference. |

Rich: This is TRUE!
I read the entire transcript online and then I watched the whole speech on cspan's youtube channel.
Before cspan had it up, I tried to find someone that uploaded it to youtube.
The whole part about "a young man from kenya and a woman from kansas.. the workers who kept showing up to work, because the people depended on the brake pads. etc etc."
that entire back history on the economy..
the next part of the speech started with "ENOUGH."
I was like: :conf: then I was like :haha: damn, i'm not being spoon fed this , i'm watching it because it's OUR country and it's about you.
Which is why people take strong convictions toward politicians, but then they get f'ed in the end.. and can never trust again. |

Why would we want someone who helps govern Alaska to assist in running our country? Gimme a F'in break.
McCain doesnt even know how to use email, and George Bush thinks email is called the internet! |
sarah palin has been a mayor of a town of 5,000 and a governor of a state of 670,000 for just 2 years. other than living there her whole life, she went to college in idaho. in the likely event that mccain doesn't make it 4 years, we will have a small town woman president with no background or experience in national or international issues. a woman who has never travelled and probably never followed world politics. a woman with no experience in negotiation, mediation or diplomacy and no idea how washington dc operates. her only experience with the federal government is the work she did with the senator ted stevens who's been indicted on corruption charges. sarah palin herself is being investigated for corruption by her own republican legislature. her self-proclaimed cause - as stated in a cspan interview earlier this year - is to promote alaska's energy industry by building a pipeline through canada to reinforce our petroleum-based national energy policy. her husband also works for bp. it is in her immediate interest that our economy stays dependent on oil. she is nothing more than an shiny object in mccain's campaign. and forget about the fact that mccain doesn't know how to use a computer. he thinks iraq borders pakistan. there's the guy you want handling the military for the next four years. |
