It's illegal for an ISP to filter or sniff what u do with data transfers. |

It's not. I think if comcast called me to say "sorry sir but you've exceeded the 250GB limit." i'd say "ok I'd like to cancel my subscription" |

Diddums.
Just about all internet is capped here (mine isnt, but fair usage says about 400gb).
There are 7mb internet services here capped at 30gb.
Most caps are between 40-60. Some are 10gb. |

Exactly.
If they are just going to terminate your service anyway, may as well hit em where it hurts and not give them anymore of your money. |

How many people can honestly say they surpass 250 GIGS a month? |
I can. |

250 gigs a month? That is still an absurd amount. |
250 is good amount, but downloading HD movies will eat up bandwidth in a hurry - they average 8GB each. Full seasons of tv shows in HD run about 25GB. I routinely destroy my measly 60GB cap in a week. |

GUYS, GUYS. OTHER COUNTRIES DO THIS, THAT MAKES IT OK. ISP's AREN'T DOING ANYTHING ETHICALLY WRONG.
Listen, this is WRONG. All major ISP's teeter on the line between legal and illegal daily. Hell, they give the government your information without warrants (But since you aren't a terrorist, THAT MAKES IT OK, Right?)
We used to care. I used to remember when things like net neutrality was at the forefront of the internet nerd crusade. Everything is turning to . I will personally exceed 250gb/mo in protest of this bull. ing comcast. ing verizon (Worst on invasion of privacy)

At around 8.5GB a day, I think I would sit comfortably just under that cap, seems alright to me.
If they mean two-way traffic, then it gets a bit harsher. |

I believe they can be pressured by certain agencies to attain warrants to understand why exactly you are downloading "200,000 videos worth of youtube videos" every week with the suspicion that you are distributing Diakatana warez, Epic Movie pirate rips or bootlegs of the OJ Simpson If I Did It book.
"you should not worry if you have nothing to hide" I suppose would be their defense. |
