It's all very surreal to me, I still can't really believe it. I've been watching Katrina specials for the last couple of days now, then I switch over to CNN and see that the storm is back again...

It's already begun, they're shortening the RNC to as little as one day. Though I think it's the appropriate thing to do, There's Republicans that are doing cartwheels because what little media scrutiny will happen at all will be completely overshadowed by this possible disaster.
In all fairness, it's foolish to think that a city on the Gulf Coast that's built underneath sea level will take punishment like this. Engineers need to figure this out PRONTO. As is, that city's just not safe in the hurricane season.
Proper ing happy with the way Nagin's handling this and not taking any bull in terms of looting and crime though.

He has made it extremely clear that anyone caught looting will be sent to Angola Prison in with the GP too. He isn't ing around this time.

Instead of the levvys (pardon the spelling) being built once and not being looked at until Katrina banged up....for a major city below sea level why weren't these levvys continuously looked after and improved so they could withstand such strong natural forces?
Sure the levvys are now rebuilt on the East side but they aren't even finished on the West side so God help them all Gustav doesn't go that way :(
On a higher note, I'm really glad everyone is getting the heck out of there this time around!
