What an extraordinary night. This was by far the most fun I have had at a club in a couple of years. Pics coming soon.
Friday-So we stayed at The Hotel at Mandalay Bay and had the most pimped out suites we could have asked for. Got into Vegas friday night and considered going to Roger Sanchez, but opted for some local DJ's at the clubs inside Mandalay. I can think of about 8 guys on this board that could go out there and make a nice living as a local DJ and play much better than these guys did. Never heard so much bad wonka house in my life. So we decided to leave the clubs about 5 am and do some gambling. Turns out I hadn't lost my touch on blackjack. Was up 2800 bucks that night.
Saturday- went out to the pool party and listened to an amazing house DJ. Never got his name, but it was some of the best house music I have heard in a while. Many boobs and arses being shown off (pics coming soon) by many hot ass women.
Had lunch next to Bo from Filo and Peri and ended up having a very lengthy conversation with him. Very cool and engaging guy.
Saturday night-So we leave for the Palms around 10:30 to try and beat the line. Ain't happenin'. When we got there, the line was already out the front door of the Palms all the way to the main entrance of Rain, which totaled about 2500 people.
Here is where we felt like rock stars. We took a limo over to the Palms from our hotel. We had bought a ticket package hosted by Kettle One that we thought only included all the Kettle One you could drink. We walk right by all of these people and go right up to the VIP line. There was no one in the VIP line however. I asked the gentleman if we were in the right line and he asked for our tickets. I showed them to him, he got on his radio to confirm and then said "Mr. Jones, we have been waiting for your party. This is Cindy. She will escort you to your table." We go past everyon, including people in another VIP line and are escorted up the elevator to our own private bar behind the stage.
Music-KENNETH THOMAS BLEW THE ROOF OFF THAT PLACE!!!!!!!
He dropped bomb after bomb and played one of the better progressive sets I have ever heard. You could really tell he was fueled by the crowd. When he was at the pinnacle of his set, there were about 6000 people packed into that place going nuts. He played until about 1:30.
Then there was a brief intermission so that Oakey could get everything set up. They made the most of it. The rafters dropped down about half way to the dance floor. Then, something out of Cirque de Soleil started falling from the rafters. Hot ass women with only body paint on doing all kinds of acrobatic stuff while fire was blowing everywhere.
Oakenfold started off really well with some darker trance tracks. But after about 45 minutes to an hour, his set really lost all direction. So we left about 4:30 and went to go gamble more.
All in all, was really cool to see the opening of the Perfecto residency. I hope it does well. Vegas has much potential to be a big EDM player if they do it right. |

That was by far the best I have ever heard from him. There were some tracks that sounded like his own edits that were just amazing. Especially a remix of Gianluca Motta's "not alone". It sounded much like the Martin Roth remix, but with some extra effects and sound added to it. Great track though. He played Pjanoo and the place was going nuts by that time. |

I was in Vegas for the MAGIC Menswear show the whole week before Labor Day. Obviously it would have been insane to go to opening night of the new residency. I am glad to hear that someone here did!
Labor Day weekend in Vegas had-
Morrillo
Sanchez
Opening of Oakie residency
Sharam/Cedric Gervis-will these guys ever come to Dallas again???
PVD
BT
Max Graham
I mean talk about a sick weekend. I am from NY until last year moving to Dallas and i muist admit Vegas keeps getting better and better. NYC has really slowed down. I am almost prepared to crown Vegas the King of MEGA in the US. Anyways I intend on going to Lawler at Ghostbar. If you are in town and want to ball it up, let me know. You sound like a cool cat. I keep my 917 area code for my cell, but am in North Dallas too. Hit me up if you are going to Lawler.

Filo and Peri were there too. They played at Rain. We almost stayed to go to Morillo. But I was the only one who hadn't blown a ton of money and everyone was ready to go. Maybe next time.
Didn't know PVD, Graham (are you kidding me? I didn't know about this?) or BT were there. If they were, someone didn't promote the shows because the only shows people talked about were Sanchez, Morillo and Oakenfold. |

| Damn, sounds like a top weekend. How much did you spend on those VIP tickets, and the club scene in general? |

These tickets in particular were $175. But, when we bought 8 together they gave us our own table. This included open private bar. Drinks in Vegas averaged about 12-15 bucks. So, considering how much we usually drink, we came out ahead. I'm guessing between the 8 of us we went through 7 or 8 bottles of Kettle One that night (Maybe more?)
The club scene has potential. The thing is that they have really good promoters there and even better venues. But it's hard to pull people into clubs in a place like Vegas when so much else is going on. We thought of going to Sanchez and Morillo. But, there were other things we wanted to do. |

Having a hard time getting my images to DL on my PC. Here is one that was taken from my phone though that can give you an idea how big it was. This was taken about 11pm. The place was wall to wall packed downstairs and upstairs later on. Our table was directly above the center screen

That is definitely reasonable. Drinks are fkn expensive there, unless you're gambling of course. But a private, open bar, plus entry, a table and no wait... that's a fkn deal. |
