I never said that...

with the release of his new album .. i think he can make a cool million very easily in 2009

..your steve right? when's your new album coming out?
elFreak
your custom title is perhaps the most appropriate i've ever seen.

his new album is all released material, i would be very surprised he could trick the people into buying the same songs twice.

I haven't bought any of those songs.. they may have been released on beatport but not a official album. Maybe on vinyl (not sure) but a worldwide commercial release is coming in November..
elFreak
they have been released on more than just beatport (itunes ect) and vinyl. Considering physical medium's such as cd's sales are at record lows he wont make that much off this. marketing analysis also dictates it is idiots like you who will jump on this exclusive fresh material.

i guess it is idiots like me that like to own a physical copy of an artists work rather then ripping it off like the rest. I say lets get some hackers and find everyone who has illegal music and have it erased from their hard drives..

if people don't want to pay for music they shouldn't have the right to listen to it. plain and simple
elFreak
where the hell did that come from?

since when does mp3 or wav's widely available for PURCHASE have anything to do with hackers and what not.

you are dumber than the average person that respects a man playing pre made sets in a mouse costume as art.

What do you mean by 'pre-made'? Are you simply suggesting that most of Joel's sets consist of his own tracks? Or, alternatively, are you implying that before he gets ready for a gig he programs Ableton to play a determined number of songs in order?

Either way, I've had Joel turn to me in the middle of his set and say "I don't know what to play next" and then proceed to spin a request of mine.

Anyways, I don't understand all the Deadmau5 bashing. The man is incredibly talented, has achieved what most artists can only dream of, and has created some of the best music I've ever heard. I have nothing but respect for the guy and wish him all the best :)

Come on guys this is not a private chatroom, it's a public forum where people can read your stupid posts. Why would you want to let the world know that you're an idiot?

well normally, i stay away from this ..but... what can i say, i love Toronto too much! but i kinda feel the need to dispell the weath illusion here...

making music alone, has been nothing but expensive. i mean, all the gear, software, space to do it in... etc. and thats just the tip of the iceberg really, because then you have the costs involved in getting that music out... production costs, management fees, paying your employees of course, legal fees (happens unfortunatley), not to mention the all around fees involved in just running a label... and thats just the music part... and i thought it was manageable... at least until the tour bits hit! man, you really need to dosh out.. conservatively i'd say 86% of your gross back into things like flights, hotels, logistics, shipping, booking agents cuts, a tour manager to accompany you and all his expensees... the list seems to go on forever.

i guess a good example for me would have been my show at the fillmore in NYC.... or WMC... hell, i walked out of that in debt!

but you know what, if wealth means... being able to create something, and have a self sustainable business, even if a profit margin is extremely minimal... AND everyones having fun... then it. im having a great time then.

i cant say what the future holds for me, but if it puts me back on the ground to say this, im constantly worried about making "deadmau5" and mau5trap a self sustainable thing that will someday in the distant future give me the security and freedom we all have in life... which i still feel i am very far away from.

in fact, after this tour, ill be happy to break even... i've just taken out my first mortgage, and believe me when i tell you, im just as scared of it as any first time buyer.

and finally, im VERY proud to announce that after exploring many options, i've decided to call Toronto my permanent address!
