Am I the only person who found this unwatchable?
It struck me as hopelessly cheesy from the first scene, and I had to turn it off after about fifteen minutes. IMO it hasn't aged nearly as well as 2001.
I thought the book was okay, though. |

Eh... it was ok. But nothing I'd want in my coveted DVD collection. I like other Kubric films a lot better. |

The book is better--better ending.
The only beef I have with the movie is that it doesn't have the book's ending. (or at least the last chapter that was chopped from the American version)
Aside from that, I love the music. Go Walter--Wendy Carlos!? |

No. |
Fixed. I'm with you, JBJ - 2001, Full Metal Jacket, Dr. Strangelove, and the Shining are all favorites of mine, but I just couldn't manage to get into A Clockwork Orange (or Eyes Wide Shut for that matter - but that one for far more obvious reasons).
Just didn't care for the film. Book is terrific. |

| I think the film is better than the book. |

| One odd thing that was going back and watching it again a year or two back, all I could think was how similar I felt to when I watched THX 1138, which I also thought was just horrible. |

| i think we missed the time with it. When it was new perhaps it was a lot more hard hitting and easy to get into, but with all the advances & our desensitisation to stuff, it just doesn't have much impact as it might've. |
