In high school I noticed a few "nerds" listened to techno and went to raves. I also noticed some of the more "popular" kids listening to techno and raving as well. I found the "nerds" listened to Moby, Checmical Brothers, Prodigy etc etc while the cooler kids were more Hard House and Trance. |
I'd agree for those who like techno at my school, the nerds like moby, chemical, etc.. etc.. etc.. although not many even listen to it at all |

I wonder if there is a correlation between people who listen to techno, and academic wise, like marks.
I wish there would be an actual study that would prove techno makes people smart, ;) cuase that would be funny. :D |

techno? :conf:
i never really thought about a right brain - left brain correlation with Trance type music. I fall into the technical type - I am an engineer. |

i am a newbie with college myself...i am taking only one course this summer and then a full load in the fall. i recently took my placement test and i did horribly on the math part but i qualified for english honors. i am going for my AS though...i believe comp graphic design is AS....im nervous about calc and physics and all that, but i like to challenge myself so we'll see what happens..it's nice to know i can always ask some TA's for help w/ my homework when i need it! hahaha
about the conclusion u made kirby...it's pretty interesting i think...it's like trance seems to draw the smart people in. i mean all the college kids from UF and FSU here in florida jam out to Ja Rule and JLo at bars and get wasted on beer every weekend..go figure:rolleyes: |

I think the whole rap/hip hop thing is a fad thing. It seems like people feel cool listening to it, just blasting it in their cars with the windows down.
Whenever i go to an event (rave) that more housy where not so much trance is played, i dont see very many asians, however when i go to an event where a trance dj is headlining, or its a mostly trance event, there are probably at least 60% asians. Thats kind of a funny observation too :D
It also seems, the more progressive the event, the more intelligent the people are with the music :D |

| Here in Denmark I feel that there's a sharp divide between the two worlds of the humanities and the natural sciences. At least for boys. Science guys either hang on to their Guns'n'Roses ideals, or are into electronica. Both genres are, to put it lightly, not particularly popular. Humanity guys go for funk, soft rock or obscure vocalists. They say that they find other genres "dead" (like in non-exciting), but I bet they're only trying to be cool, and get insecure girls who are easily impressed. |

Ditto lol :toothless
But then, even in the 80's I was an 'alternate' music fan; Depeche Mode, New Order, Flock of Seagulls, etc. etc. |

yeah, I guess i'm a tekkie too... but i really don't think it's so much a rule. last nite i was on IRC talking to this chik thar writes 'psychadelic' (her quote)poetry and starred in plays and she listens to gabba and speedcore. my ex-gf was into english more then math and she loved mostly the same kind of trance and chillout like me (the 'softer' sides of us). so there's no point in saying that it appeals to certain ppl. and in fact this prooves even more that it is special. art must reach anyone... :)

Ey ..am I the only one whos on the other side then? I can't stand neither physics nor maths programming etc...Im only interested when i´t somes to philosophic discussions within thos subjects (for example the big bang discussion that actually covers physcis, religion and philosophy)
SO yeah..im a "humanist" as it would be called..i loce languages, philosophy, history and arts (well movies and photography).
I always thought that it must be THAT side that would attract tranceaddicts..vice versa..After all tecnical subject dont really include lots of emotions, mind games, creativity etc.. And those are things i actually associate with Trance. |
