What this thread about is that fact that now ALL DJs are playing this style or at least incorporating elements of it into their own style.... which has happened more recently

Yeah there was tech/minimal in 2006 but it didnt reach its allstar status that it has in the past year or so

funny you should say that because i remember having multiple conversations at work with fellow employees that were djs and producers who left before 2007 about this very subject and we all expressed the exact same thing what you are assuming has only recently happened (im talking about other genres moving into tech/minimal)

well yeah true... but you gotta remember that DJs and Producers are a little bit ahead of the game in terms of new music, they basically lead the direction of what is popular music

I am just saying that if I were to go to a random EDM club in mid 2006 (hotel, gallery, etc.) you would probably be hearing purely electro, whereas more recently you would probably be hearing a whole lot more tech/minimal sounds at these same clubs

I am just saying that minimal/tech has more recently hit the mainstream EDM scene.... and become insanely popular

Redundant threads have become characteristic of TA

Yeah I've noticed a few big prog house DJs now that have been playing techno tracks. Steve Lawler and Dubfire have been playing it a lot as witnessed at Viva. Digweed's new Transitions 4 has a lot techno and even Sasha's productions have been sorta going that route too.

I don't mind it all. In fact I love the sound. It seems like a natural extension of prog house anyway. I wonder how long the trend will stick around. Minimal on the other hand is deters even more away from the "typical" sounding EDM tracks, but I enjoy that too. DJ's like Magda etc. I'm impressed by.
