Worst thing you can do in DJ is depend on something having to be the same every time you play.

I always try and cover up the WAV display when I'm using Serato. Basically forcing myself to just use my ears as i know the day I get up in front of some CDJ's i'll only have my ears to depend on.

Just advice i've read on here many many times..

yea your right, but ive not played in a gig yet, ill try covering the displays up, seeing how brutal ill get lol

Nah, just use one headset to listen to both channels.

Why do I see them shift between different headsets then?

Because they broke the other one? :D

Show me video please, because I've never seen dj's switch headphones while mixing.

I dont use headphones at all most of the time.... I mean yea i cue a track using the headphones but then i mix/blend in the next track without headphones, i just get the bpm speeds (display on pioneer cdjs)the same and depending on the tempo difference i just gently spin the jog wheel in which ever direction is needed as per tempo difference...

I dont know if this is a good or bad way to be mixing but its just how i learnt... and most of the time i do some pretty good mixing with no drifting

if you can't beatmatch by ear then i doubt you can tell whether there is any drifting or not.

and to the OP: have more respect for your audience (and yourself) than playing out before you are ready.

lately whenever i beatmatch now I just have 1 channel on (cue) and then somehow im able to just have that one song going and listen to the live track and get them beatmatched.. before id have both channels going in my right ear and beatmatch that way.

Thats the qoute "normal" way, isn't it? The latter?

That used to be the normal way (cue in one ear, listen to the monitors with the other). I think it changed though?
