What Cables?????

I know this is not exactly about DJ'ing, but it will help with my setup. Basically, I have a set of decks on one side of my bedroom, with a plasma TV above them. On the other side of my bedroom, I have a small computer room that houses my main PC. I sometimes connect the PC to my decks with a long RCA to phono cable, so I can play MP3's through the 3rd channel on my mixer (using something like Traktor). The only problem is that I often have to run from one side of my bedroom to the other when cueing up tracks and beat matching etc. This is when I thought, if I had a pair of wireless senders I could connect my PC to my plasma TV and use a cordless mouse to control Traktor, then I could see whats happening on my computer by just looking up to my TV. Hope you are with me so far.

Anyway, a friend of mine has just give me a pair of wireless senders. The only problem is that they both have scart sockets on the end of them. I am looking for a way to connect the second one to my PC. I was thinking if I bought a female Scart to male VGA cable, that might do the trick. Any ideas please?

Thanks, DJ HARN.

First a phono is an RCA.

Second, you need to clarify the signal. Scart is just a type of connector. It can be used for RGBHV, RGB, RGB Sync on Green, SVideo or Composite. Fully wired Scart to Scart is RGBHV, if the both the source (say DVD player) and the receiver (say TV) are capable of it.

If it's a cheap sending system, it's probably just sending a composite signal which means you are out of luck as a VGA signal cannot be broken down without a active converter. However if it's a good sender and it can pass RGBHV, and then if your video card can output RGBHV through VGA then you are in luck!

By the way, you can run a VGA cable for 30 foot, if you use a very good one (i.e hand made or length specified, not a cheapy). If you can run the cable and it's got a vga input I would go this way.

your other options are to get a compsite out Video card for your PC (very cheap like $15) and then get a composite wireless sender (again the cheapest type of sender out there or you could then use that scart sender if you get scart adaptor cable).
