I know we have mainlt a Trance following here, but I also know that we have a few hip-hop fans too. I'm not a big fan of Rap, but hip-hop does me good.
Alright, if you spin or like the hip-hop culture. Let me tell you this movie is amazing! It is one of the most inspirational movies I've seen in awhile. I've always been a big fan of DJ scratching and the sheer skill it takes to do it, so this movie just gave me more respect for them.
If you don't know what it is read here. I've always thought turntablist were amazing, but this movie put them into a spotlight and showcase their talents. I guess any movie with Q-bert, MixMaster Mike, and Roc Raida would bring me out. check it out if you have time, if you live in Philly it's at the Roxy on Samson and 21th.

Yea, I heard about it. Roc Raida's the man !!!
I'm a fan of turntablism as well. I'm currently listening to X-ecutioner's latest album 'Built from Scratch'. Very fine hip hop stuff indeed. |

| The Hughes Brothers were part of the production team for this movie. The directors of 'Menace to Society' and 'From Hell'. |

I think it's cool to know another style of DJing. Scratching is just plain wicked!

everyone's looking
everyone hide
everyone's telling
but everyone lies
we're changing the subject
we're turning away
away from the heart of it all
you say you are happy
do you think this is fun?
well it's only a firefly to the light of the sun
you say this is living
you feel so alive
well you know everything dies
even my wonder
even my fear
only amount to a couple of tears
there is a rhythm
it's near and it's far
it flows through the heart of us
welcome to another day
it don't seem that different
'cause nothing has changed
i try to remember
try to remember
when we weren't just running in place
reasons for living
never come cheap
but even your best ones can put me to sleep
what i am saying
or trying to say
is that there must be a better way
even my wonder
even my fear
only amount to a couple of tears
there is a rhythm
it's near and it's far
it flows through the heart of us
it's already in you
it's already there
you may disagree but i don't really care
did you ever find out
did you ever find out
what's at the heart of us?
did you ever find out
did you ever find out
what's at the heart?
tell me all your wildest dreams
i don't really care
if you don't know what they mean
we're raiding the closets with skeleton keys
you know it's easier than you think
even my wonder
even my fear
only amount to a couple of tears
there is a rhythm
it's near and it's far
it flows through the heart of us
your reasons for living are all very fine
but they're leaving me cold
they're not really mine
did you ever find out
did you ever find out
what's at the heart of us?

also check out www.skratchcon.com
they have great boards and instructional videos that are AMAZING!!! Qbert and some of the big guys often surf through there alot...the Executioners used to...and all these guys are real nice...just don't mention anything about techno or trance...they think it's for wussies. |
