Hi Guys,
I currently have an M Audio 49 key midi controller and M Audio 2496 soundcard.
I would like to purchase some outboard gear and can get a Virus C synth for a really good price.
My question is, is there anything I should consider or purchase(either hardware/software) BEFORE I buy the Virus?

| How outboard are you trying to get? |

Not alot in all honestly,
Would actually just like to get a decent synth like the Virus and I suppose that would be it for now? |

With your current setup you should consider the following:
You can only use a single stereo output of the virus c (as you only have one stereo input available on your audiophile).
You cannot use the virus audio input (to run audio through the vocoder/filters) as you probably use the audiophile outputs to run your speakers with :).
You'd need some midi cables to hook up the Virus, no problem there probably.
That should be it :) |

Thanks for the reply,
Should I perhaps consider purchasing a soundcard with more i/o'S? |

I'd say get the virus. See if you enjoy it as much as you expect to do. Otherwise sell it for more later on (if the deal is as good as you say it is, you should! :D).
If you feel you want to make more use of it's capabilities, then start saving up/investing. The audiophile should be enough to hook up the virus for now and it would be shame to invest in something you might not need :). |
