Does Logic support VSTs and VSTis?

No, Logic's plugin format is Audio Units. Most plugins come in both VST and Audio Unit, but not all.

FXpansion makes a VST wrapper that presents your VST's as Au's for use in a seq like Logic. I personally have not worked with this.

Another (possible better) solution, is to make use rewire to run a slave sequencer that hosts VST plugs. Along with what Eric J said, many of the plugins that are worth anything are available in multiple formats.

The only problem you may run into is that there are a few good plugins out there that are PC-only, namely z3ta+ and Atmosphere (G5 Mac only). Atmosphere is less of a problem with Omnisphere coming out which should support Intel Macs.

I actually have quite a hybrid setup going in my studio to get around all of these limitations.

I have a second PC that I have slaved to Logic running Ableton Live. This allows me to use some PC only plugins on that computer as well as take advantage of Live's vastly superior audio editing.

I also purchased a cool little rack unit called the Muse Research Receptor, which is basically a rack mount dedicated computer that runs PC formatted VST plugins. The advantage to this is not only can I run plugins that are PC only, but the plugins run natively on the Receptor and use the Receptor's CPU & RAM. Using a little native plugin tool called Uniwire, I can use the plugins on the Receptor just like they were hosted on my Intel based Mac. Very cool.

Both of these options are certainly not for the budget-conscious producer, but they do provide good workarounds for those of us who refuse to be limited by our platform of choice.
