Talk to your kids about the dangers of high-speed particle collisions

Just because your friends jump off a bridge, doesn't mean you should.

Especially if, at the bottom of a bridge, is a point of singularity caused by an improper magnetic collision course of a stray (heavy) lead ion which ultimately destroyed its own manufacturing of doing, the LHC.

Now, as you look down at your girlfriend, who is...
1. closer to the point of singularity (think the center of a black hole)
2. accelerating towards the singularity at the relatively equals to yours, although she has a bit of a head start
...you realize she is moving in a "slow motion" effect. She is looking up at you, screaming as she becomes stretched. Stretched? Her feet are closer to the singularity than her head, therefore accelerating exponentially and ultimately, fatally. She first becomes halved by the waist, then her both halves become halved, then halved again, into infinity(give or take 0). You will not hear her screams, as her screams will more likely be sucked into the black hole. You can tell her you love her(and she might be able to decipher it as it streams by her at .999999999999% speed of light), but she can only lip sync it back to you.

Because the bridge jump point is about 200 feet from the point of singularity, and complying with rules of Einstein's special theory of relativity (time distortion caused by speed through space as the speed approached the speed of light), you will see her go through the agonizing torture and death for about 14 days by your account.

Meanwhile you are undergoing your own torture, in your own sense of relative "real-time". You will watch your feet being tugged at, your body halved, and look up to see your best mate screaming at your ordeal. You may or may not feel the pain of your body being cut into a zillion pieces, as the electric pulses of pain might not read your brain in "time".

If you would like to hear more, you can hear my physics lecture at the La Jolla High School Drama Theatre in San Diego on Sept 10, 2008.

did you see the CERN scientists are getting death threats?? people me.

if there's one thing that concerns me more than anything about the LHC experiment, it's the trajectory of the particles accelerating, not the actual collision. As it's going around the ring at (say) .99999999% the speed of light, its mass becomes bigger. Say that one single magnet along its course is either grossly miscalculated or fails outright-there is going to be a basketball-sized "thing" out of control traveling at the speed of light in the earth's atmosphere.
It could poke someone's eye out.

It would make yo anti-matter's mama say 'ouch'

Yep. Anyone who thinks the world will end because of this is a grade A idiot.

Is this thread about the LHC or salvia?

You know....I really wasn't afraid of this thing at all.

What would be the methodical or archaic similiarities between a 'point of singularity' caused by an improper magnetic collision and the formation of an 'Omega Point' when discussing the Law of Complexity?
