Hey man, I haven't played with the DDM-400 but in my experience, Behringer stuff is pretty hit & miss. I once bought a DJX700 which was Behringer's cheap rip-off of the Pioneer DJM600. Worst mixer I think I've ever come across. It was ed within 6 weeks with faders crackling and one side of the stereo out dropping out, and I threw it in the bin coz it wasn't even worth trying to fix or replace parts. At the mo, I'm using a DJM400 with a Beringer BCD2000, and although it took me a while to work out how to configure it with Traktor, it works quite well and it was also quite cheap too. I've heard good reports about some of the other Behringer midi control mixers but I've haven't tried them personally. There are of course far superior mixers out there but usually the cost is significantly more.

you can get a decend 2 or 3 ch mixer (depends on how many you need) with 400 dolars

i need a three channel mixer.. with built in fx would be plus :)
any recommendations as to which mixer is worth the 400 bux of my savings?

give someone the 400 to kick you in the nuts and call it a day

otherwise it'll be smarter to save your money and get an actual good mixer

Haha.. bit harsh :wtf:

Personally i think if the budget is tight and there is no way you really can pull more out of your ass.. Maybe try some ebay mixers, shop around (ordering online can sometimes save you a bunch if your cool with the wait time (generally not that bad depending on how lazy dispatch feels)). I don't know many 3 channel mixers with effects.. I went straight from a 2chan to a 4 chan DJX700.. and (read carefully) It got me by...the djx is (as the alien said) a hit or miss mixer.. IMO If your on the budget abd you really want a few channels and a bit of FX.. the djx will do.. Provided you intend on keeping it a short term mixer and will be looking to save for a real mixer next.

I'm not one to say Behringer is great.. There OK.. they will do.. I use a pair of there MS20 monitors and i love them to death. However the reason i don't use the DJX anymore is because (as people said) they do give you a few months of hard work and should last if you take care of them and unlike me.. Don't turn your back and let a couple of drunk chicks turn on some hip hop and blast the out of it at a gig. But a little mis-treatment or a bad day is all they need to turn there back on you and up.

To anwser your original question.. I haven't tried the new mixer from them.. It looks pretty cool.. For the features it has you can't really argue the price.. I'm going to do out on a limb here and tell you if you want a mixer with enough channels and effects (and midi is a great bonus) Go for it..

At the same time i will also like to note, With the money i spent on my old DJX, I found out the hard way it would have been a better idea to er.. (as tony said) get kicked in the balls and save a little longer.

aite, ill take tony's advice,, as it is im already half way there to my new mixer... its gonna take ages to come up with a grand if i get a ty mixer and ill kick myself in the nuts everyday for not taking both ur adivce... whts a good quality mixer for double that price?... bout 800-1000??

it sounds like the Denon DN-X1500 would fit your needs.

2 channel but its the closest for the price: Pioneer DJM400

If 1500$ is do-able.. go the 700-800DJM from Pioneer

it may be a bit harsh but it's the truth, it's a harsh industry, i'm being nice by industry standards ;)

let's say you buy something in the 400 range, you're going to grow out of it in 6-8 months and have to start this whole process all over again

like you said, you're already halfway to the 800-1000 mark, you can get a good mixer you can grow into for that price that you won't get bored with right away and will also last you more than a year tops

edit:

if the budget is tight, screw food, music is more important

i lived off off those crap raimen noodles for months, screw mac and cheese, you need to pay for butter and milk on that stuff, raimen noodles is just hot water and what they give you, perfect for saving up for gear, add a little hot sauce and some soy sauce and you have a gourmet meal

I'm going to go out on a limb here also and be the voice against reason, but I bought the DDM4000, and am very impressed with the mixer. It's a beast. And note this is coming from someone who owns a Xone:92 and a Rane TTM-57 also. Nothing even comes closes to the features to price ratio the DDM4000 has. The DDM4000 is a billion times better than their previous DJX-700. The FX sound really good and are actually usable (compared to their previous DJX-700) and IMO sound better than the DJM-800's effects as they are a lot more customizable. The MIDI control works well and is awesome (check out my video here using it to control Serato... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtBpGyivfLw). The sampler works great, albeit a little tricky to use at first. And a whole lot more things you can do and customize on the mixer (EQs, user settings, etc.).

But features don't mean much if the quality isn't there, and I won't lie, the mixer still feels cheap overall and it's light as a feather. I wouldn't use this mixer outside my bedroom. In the end, it's still a Behringer, and it might break in a month, a few months, a year, who knows?

But if you're on a real tight budget and absolutely need to have a mixer with 4 channels and effects, I'd say go for it. You won't be disappointed. I'm liking my DDM so much I'm using it as my "main" mixer and have my Xone and 57 off to the side right now, it's that good (feature wise), and that says a lot. I could care less if it breaks in a year, I mean really, what can you expect for $325? Just take care of it, don't abuse it too hard, and get an extended warranty.

That's pretty much in line with what I've read about it so far.

Seems like it'd be worth a shot based on features alone.
