Right, so this is TA, with an emphasis on TRANCE (or house in recent years) so I'm prepared to get flamed, but I was wondering if anyone is at all in to breakcorey stuff at all?
I got exposed (kind of like being exposed to a infectious bilogical weapon) a couple of weeks ago and quite liked some of the sounds I was hearing. But I have no idea of artists, labels, etc.
It sort of appeals to me a bit because its got some IDM influence, but also seems quite rhythmic in a lot of cases, a bit like DnB, but also with much less sugar coated cheesiness. Also less repetative than dubstep etc. which I just can't like So I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations at all as to names of artists in this sort of field? |

way too much ebm/electroindustrial influence for my liking. not impressed.
for quality rhythmic noise i recommend c/a/t 's very own crunch pod label. get a hold of the rogue pair for starters. |

| I like some power noise when I'm in the mood for it (which is rarely), that's not much different from breakcore. |

Ahh, that planet mu stuff is just what I was after lacksesepsotygh, thanks for that! I've been hearing venetian snares mentioned in hushed tones for years, but never really got around to checking them out. Hecq seems to kick it pretty hard too... By flashbulb do you mean THIS guy sljiva? Seems a little soft, but I might actually be able to throw some of that in a set sometime...
Sometimes I just feel like listening to something completely wrong, this covers it nicely:crazy: Keep the suggestions coming! |

Yeah, Benn Jordan aka The Flashbulb. He is actually quite mellow, compared to, for example, Venetian Snares, and he often uses live strings, brass, guitars, piano etc. for his melodic parts. His last album, Soundtrack To A Vacant Life is modern classical album, and doesn't feature breakcore at all. However, you should check out his early albums like Kirlian Selections, Red Extensions Of Me and Girls Suck But You Don't.
Hecq's last release (Night Falls) is also pure dark ambient album and is not recommended if you're looking for breakcore. |
