I hate bell and want to switch. i was looking at a plan from primus seen HERE Its basically unlimited internet home phone and long distance for $65 a month. What do you think? have any one had good bad experiences? are there any bandwidth caps?

appreciate the help.

haha, thats pretty funny.

My coworker beside just spend about 40 minutes on the phone with switching is home phone over to Primus from Bell to get the special 15,000 Aeroplan point bonus.

From a customer service standpoint (and from what I can hear) they didn't really seem to be updated on plans and promotions and there was a lot of misinformation.

Just make sure exactly what you are getting before you sign up since it shows that you will be penazlied $100 if you cancel before a year.

if you want to stick with DSL then check out teksavvy.

If you are open to switch to cable, i recommend 3web/CIA.
Yes, yes there are loads of complaints all over the web, but they have gotten much better. Customer service is still poor, but the connection is very stable, and pretty much if anything goes wrong, its usually Rogers at fault.

That plan uses VOIP for your telephone, not like a traditional phone. So if your internet goes out, so does your home phone, that is why it is so cheap. You could always go to somebody else get a separate DSL and separate VOIP plan, and it would come to about the same. So aren't really saving anything, just giving Primus all your business.

As for DSL, I suggest Acanac. Their tech support isn't great, but for that price and the features, I was willing to live with it. The $19/month price is only for the first year, and you have to pay up front. I've done it, and a few of my friends have, with no problems. After the first year, it goes up to $40/month.

- Unlimited bandwidth (Trust me)
- 100GB free online storage (used it regularly)
- Free online PC (more handy than you think)

I'd recommend Teksavvy, I've been using them for awhile now. However, be prepared to go without internet for awhile. I've setup with them twice now - and both times there was issues with getting my DSL setup, and went without internet for 1 week the first time, and nearly three weeks the 2nd time.

However, if you already have DSL - it might be an easier switch.

But, once they do get up and running - I have zero complaints, and if I was to move again - I'd stick with them.

make sure you give a call a week ahead to have no downtime between the switch. make sure you get a confirmation number from bell and then give that to the teksavvy rep. they'll take it from there.

Acanac

one payment of $230 and you get 5MB unlimited for a year. the customer service is solid too. when i was looking for a new provider Acanac was cheaper than TekSavy and probably still is.
