im an electronic media major at a 2 year school in New York right now and during my search for universities to transfer to, I came across majors i found interesting at the University of Leeds (music, multimedia, and electronics BSc), University of Liverpool (communication, media, and pop music), and University of Sussex (music informatics).
I was wondering if anyone on here knew anything about those schools and/or degree programs. and also if there are any other good schools in the UK and/or rest of Europe that are good schools for music business/industry or music production, etc.
thanks! |

It all depends on which actual uni's you are talking about.
When you say Leeds do you mean Leeds uni or Leeds Met? likewise with Newcastle, Newcastle Uni or Northumbria.
I can tell you that of those uni's i'd never pick Sussex or Dundee. York uni is nice but it's not a big city so depends what you are used to. My pick out of those would be Leeds, Liverpool or Newcastle. I'd imagine there would be a similar course on at either Manchester or Manchester Met too so check them. |

Cities often have more than one University. Newcastle for instance has Newcastle University and Northumbria University. Usually the main uni (newcastle) is what's called a red brick university. This means it's a tradition university which is held is fairly high regard. The courses they offer are limited to specific educational bases such as Law, Sciences, Maths, English. Whereas Northumbria is a "glass university" which may be held in a lower regard though that's not to say a degree from there holds much lesser value in the work place. The courses they offer are much more vocational such sport studies, multimedia computing and film studies whilst still offering the standard main courses as Newcastle university.
Leeds is the same in this respect, Leeds Uni is the main red brick one and Leeds Metropolitan is the Glass University. |
