google for file sharing in vista and xp
you have to set up a shared folder, it works a little different depending on if the files you are sharing are on the vista machine or the xp machine |

All jokes aside, right-click on the folder you want to share and share it.
From the other computer, \\[ip address] and enter credentials if necessary. Drag and drop.
Or, you could try \\[ip address]\C$ (or drive_letter$) for administrative shares. You'd have to log in as an admin.
The external hard drive message should still be faster, plus you have a backup. |
