For professional software you don't expect total data losses out of no where.
Not only will I kill the cause of the glitch but I look foward to the time I get to erase the totally negligent programmers of this ugly software.
I really hate when I get new things to add to my to kill list.. it makes my life less tranquil. Must happen though if ever I return to that state (not kidding).

Dude, firstly chill. It's only software.
PS, why do you have so many problems with it crashing? Cubase on a PC is pretty stable under normal conditions.
You can set cubase to autosave at intervals of your choice, which is the safest but it will save over your last version, not create new ones per autosave, like protools does.
Al audiofiles are kept in the project folder of that project.
Really, everytime you resume a project from a saved version you immediately do a save as a new version. This way, at least you don't loose everything if it crashes or becomes corrupted. |

Always choose "copy sample to working directory" when importing samples.
Have you thought about the amount of space it is going to use if it would render each sample every time you cutted or glued something together? and not to mention the processing power of such a process.
And if you work for 3-4 hours without saving, i`d say its your own fault, or atleast you are going to put autosave or save your project frequently from now on.
In the 4 years ive been using Cubase, it has only once crashed with the consequence of loosing the whole project, it can be frustrating the first time, but you will learn by your mistake in not saving, and ensure it doesnt happen again.
I always save my project frequently, and when im done on that session i save to new file (Projectname1, Projectname2, Projectname16) |

You are crazy to have not saved once in 3 hours. I save at least every half hour, either destructive (over my existing project) or non destructive (sequential project number). What would happen if there was a power cut or someone spills some on your computer or you get a crash caused by another another program.
Cubase in fairness is not as stable on a Mac as it is on PC, but having said that, I've had no problems with Cubase on my Mac - no crashes, not even once.
AFAIK, Protools is the only program that saves cuts as individual files and you better have some serious hard drive space.
Why don't you own a copy of SL? You can get SE 1.07 very easily, yes it's not the latest but if you want the latest go buy it.
Also, if you're really doing that much sample slicing, use a wave editor not Cubase. It can do it, but it's the long way round.
4 minutes of saving once an hour even is better than 4 hours of work down the pan. Are you telling us that in 4 hours you didn't take a piss or have a cigarette or get a drink or chat to someone at all?
Sorry if this sounds posts has sounded negative. It's not your fault the computer crashed.
....but it is your fault for not backing up or at least saving once. At least the good thing is that you'll never do it again. We've a;l been there.... |

| I always save about every half hour, and when I have done a milestone I save it sequentially. Safest way really. |
