Whats going on peepz :)

2 questions for you all, the first was a question in equipment.. I am looking to produce melodic trance as well as jungle, but I am still in search of a really good all round drum samp/synth .. Looking for that booming bass drum and the only thing that comes to mind is a 909... physical equipment or computer generated equip, what should I look for? mpc2000 I am sure is great for Jungle but not so great for techo/trance/house etc.... any help in this area would be massively appreciated..

the second question I wanted to ask was... I currently work with cubase but I have been told (when making tracks from scratch) that Ableton, logic and protools were great ... I had an equal amount of supporters for each program, so I decided to bring it to the forum and see what you guys think :)

any help would be massively appreciated!

Buy an MPC if you want to do live shows and need the stability, otherwise get GURU or Battery (IMO, GURU is better). Hardly anyone uses hardware for drums anymore, it's just quicker and more flexible to program beats in software. People only really buy hardware for synths and when they do, the hardware usually has some unique characteristics you can't achieve via software.

ProTools is undeniably , IMO. You are restricted in terms of hardware, the RTAS plugin format is unpopular, the ProTools DSP systems are a joke and the software is geared for audio recording, not producing EDM.

Cubase, Logic and Ableton are all pretty much equal. The workflows are different, but there is nothing major that one DAW can achieve that another can't. Maybe you should try them and decide for yourself.

Awesome input bro thanks a ton ;) I think I will go with ableton and will do my research on GURU... now I have a Fantom x8 which will be my controller and will mostlikely pick up a Vsynth since it has ALOT of to work with... I do however have another question, what should I do as far as Bass? If I do work with trance/psytrance/jungle what should I keep my eye out for ? :)

if youre using ableton, you dont really need guru - ableton drum racks are pretty good.
Maitrader
sweet but what about for good Bass??? I am looking for a trance/psytrance bass as well as something to generate good jungle quality bass :/ any ideas?
Maitrader

I think the Minimoog is awesome for trance basslines and also a tb303 emulation of course, if thats your style. Thats as far as synths for me, as far as notes, you just have to experiment and try to keep it in key, IMO.
