The Social, Orlando, FL:
My first time at this place...it was very vintage with brick walls and it was a good size (not to big and not to small). Had 3 AEPS speaks (also called ACCENT maybe?) fairly large for the size of the dance floor, which looked like a sunken pit in front of the DJ booth. Sound quality was good. Very cool feel to the place, crowd was great.. mix of adults who love house and UCF kids who are just drunk and love the groove. :)
Q-burns (I believe) started off opening with some funky, tech and deep grooves. Played a pretty cool set dropping a variety of cross-genres, some really nasty deep tracks and even some electro and tech house bombs.
Andy Caldwell hit the decks around 12:30 I believe, started off real groovy and then jumped right into some harder tech, deep, and even electro tracks. I'm normally not a huge fan of electro but some of the tracks he selected sounded really good with the flow of the set. He kept the tempo at a good pace the whole night...I got to talk to him, really nice guy, looked young as hell too. Opener came back on to close, by then only Caldwell sounded good.
Overall B+ show. Hope they continue to put on house DJs every now and then.
