also most people dont like dumonde AS DJS (remember the topic of this thread :rolleyes: ) who have actually heard them dj, because they dont play boring tracks at the start of the set as it seems :rolleyes: so they too arnt overated... |

Think he was getting mixed up on the whole DJ producer thing, easily done that :rolleyes:
PvD is overated, Tiesto is overated
Poeple have said Corstens overated, when I saw him I had one of the best nights of my life, his mixing was good, and the track selection was awesome
AvB is so underrated it's unreal, as a DJ and a Producer, the guys awesome (check out future funland under his Perpetuous Dreamer guise, one of those tracks that is rarely spoken of, and even more rarely played) |

meh. i guess someones gotta do the dirty job :o ill be the the first to say it. i think as a DJ Armin is way over rated. as a producer hes probably underrated lol. i love his productions but as a DJ... eh... hes not all that great at least imo.. but i do think that oen of the reason ppl may say hes underrated is b/c hes not AS known as his fellow dutch DJs... them being Tiesto & Ferry mainly...:p i also think that Tiesto is way over rated these days... :rolleyes:
personally as a DJ i think Gielen is way underrated, and im sure that most people who have had the oppurtunity to see him would agree :)

At the moment all d.j.'s seem overrated
But most of the big names are doing their job very well:
PVD, AVB, B&J, PO, CG, T, D, KT... |

The thing is all these big name DJ's are only around cos of their productions not because of their mixing.
There are far better DJ's undiscovered who would beat any of these DJ's hands down when it comes to fletching some vinyl on the wheels of steel. |

Wow! A large response from a very diversified audience.
While many think on a denominatory level(i.e Tiesto sucks!) it all comes down to personal taste.
Alot of people think PvD is overrated...in someways, he is. But in MY opinion, PvD seems to deserve his glory...his sets are awesome, his production skills legendary in the trance community, and because of his skills in those two areas, his name carries for itself.
Then you have Oakenfold. Deserves credit for what he has done for the music scene, butIMO, NOT what he can do. I saw him @ Coachella a month ago, and his set was pretty boring and standard...I think I could've pulled off a more spiritual and fun set than him!
Johan Gielen...two sided. Alot of people think he is over/underrated. I never heard any of his sets, so I couldn't tell.
Tiesto is Tiesto. Production skills are top notch, but he does not deserve the respect as a DJ as he does right now. He may be @ his prime as of the moment, but it's only that...a moment. I don't think his DJing skills will carry him too far for too long.
AvB deserves mad props. His remixes and songs are top notch...energetic, memorable and no sense of cheese whatsoever.
FC still sucks IMO though:stongue: |

| I am by far the most overrated DJ known to man. Everyone loves me but i can't even beat match. I just start throwing in the crowd and when people are running around trying to dodge it i switch tracks really fast so they don't even notice the massive train wreck that just occured. Its really great to read another positive post about the best DJ's in the world sucking so bad. Come on the reason you even think peoples mixing skills suck is because you have listened to a number of thier sets and they are available. I have heard a set by tiesto where he didn't even have headphones. Sasha and Digweed boring but they mix for about 3 minutes a track. that is hard. I guess i am blabbing. get a life and quit putting up dumb threads. |
