We don't have a capitalism. IN NOMINE capitalism.

You think Russia is really communist?

That died with stalin; capitalism died around the same era.

The Bolshevik Marxism maximizing the institution to the product, rather than the product to the institution.

A great idea, an explosion of new ideas, just like in America; we're so alike it's insane. They grasped a facism and propagandized themselves into class obscurity once again, just like we did.

The idea was:

SEPERATE THIS DISTINCTIVE ANCIENT GAME OF PYRAMID ECONOMIC SOCIAL CLASSES. They were overthrown, and yet, they found a way to retain the system in a new "modern" medium.

which has absolutely nothing to do with anything ive said in this thread. i never said russia was communist, i never implied that marxism worked and your contention that capitalism ended a long time ago is complete nonsense.

I can elucidate continually; I love to do so, especially for those who wish to hear.

So I'll do so. But instead of me just talking about the amalgamation of history and connect-the-dot perception in my head, why don't you ask the question(s) that can help us bridge the chasm between our confusions here.

haha, i love your style shibby (when i understand it that is).

i'd like to know why you think capitalism is no more? since capitalism (at its most basic level) is merely the process of accumulating profit by generating excess value that has been created by wage labour, im a little confused.

I think what he is saying is that Capitalism has been maimed...crippled..subjugated by the coercive power of the state. We are living with a disfigured form of it today..a hybrid between freedom and control. The capitalist ideas of property rights and personal responsibility have taken a back seat to the authoritarian ideas of "social justice" and the "greater good". No government around the world truly respects the idea of freedom these days. Liberty now takes a back seat to "fairness" and "equality" (of outcome), so in that sense capitalism is certainly dead.

Cap, why shouldn't AIG be nationalized? If they are going begging for tax payer dollars, then the tax payers should own them.

This is the key point..They shouldn't even BE ABLE to beg for tax dollars. That is the problem with our country. We have accepted that the federal government has the power to do this sort of nonsense. Yes, if taxpayers are buying 80% of the company, we might as well nationalize it.. We've already started down that slippery slope so why not? Let's be honest about where we are headed and get it over with. Either that, or do as Shakka said, and LET PEOPLE FAIL for a change. Let some companies fail for a change. ALLOW people to lose money..Allow a little PAIN to filter through the system. It will be a healthy thing in the long run. It will discourage speculation and irresponsible behavior. The weak and stupid companies need to suffer for their stupid decisions. When both parties in Washington accept and embrace bailouts...when they accept the idea that the government needs to help everyone who gets themselves in a mess...to prevent pain..to prevent them from facing the consequences of their actions, the problem only becomes much worse in the future.
