After a 5 and a half year stint in Toronto, I just moved back home to Chicago and im eager as to explore the house scene here. Toronto is incredibly wild and Im wondering what places here can compare to the likes of Guvernment, TiL and Stereo(Montreal).. last time i was here, WhiteStar was the .. so im hoping u guys can guide me to some underground beats and bangin women?

I've partied in Toronto and Chicago about equally, and I can say with confidence that you won't find anything like the guverment in Chicago.. Nothing anywhere near as big. Toronto partiers are crazy.. on ing every drug you can imagine and can get annoying.. the type of crowd you see after 6am at the guv (40 year old asian cuddle puddles) does not exist at the clubs in chicago (at the afterparties it's a different story). I think Chi has better crowds/vibes and for the most part brings in better djs. They just don't do the mega shows that you'll find in Toronto. I'd say that places like footwork and TiL are somewhat comparable to spybar/smartbar, but they feel more underground in chicago (both actually are underground, but that's not what i'm gettin at). Vision might be the closest thing you'll get to a guvernment, and it is awesome when that club goes off.

see footwork got really sketchy the last 2 years, way too many dudes and way too many drugs at the same time.. TiL was awesome cuz it drew more of the "drinking" crowd and people actually dressed nice. so i guess vision/smartbar/spybar are the ones worth checkin out. thanks for all ur help!

Wouldn't limit myself to them, but that's definitely a good starting point.

dont get me wrong, i'm not hatin' - i'm just pointing out that the notion of Chicago House is pretty much dead even in its own birthplace.

i've been worn out on clubs for quite some time now but just about everything in this thread is spot on even if it sounds contradictory at times.

vision and soundbar i guess if you want "mega clubs", vision being better of the two

stay away from anything on Rush or Oak Street or Gold Coast area, its all rubbish. also, i am not sure at what stage the toronto hipster scene is at - here it has reached critical mass though. so if you're into that sort of thing, just move to wicker park.
